Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Senter S357 / SL358 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ST705894)
This 3.85V 5400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Senter S357 and SL358 handheld surveying and testing instruments. It matches the original voltage rail, connector, and BMS communication protocol. Capacity is 5400mAh (20.79Wh), drawn directly from product specifications.
- S357 and SL358 platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake sequence. A single pack covers both units because the voltage regulation and cell communication lines are identical across the S357 and SL358 hardware revisions.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe initialisation events, sustained sensor logging loads, and USB data transfer while connected to a host PC. The BMS held its cutoff thresholds and did not trip during the combined draw spikes recorded at probe power-up.
- First-use calibration on field instruments: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before deploying to site. The S357 maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes the instrument to issue premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.
BMS lockout after the S357 sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and blocks charging entirely. The instrument will show no charge activity and may not power on at all. To recover the pack, connect it to a charger that supports a low-current pre-charge mode — this trickle-feeds current below the BMS wake threshold until cell voltage climbs back above 3.0V per cell, at which point normal charging resumes.
Readings drifting or resetting mid-session during a logging run
Under sustained sensor load, voltage can sag briefly below the instrument's operating floor even when the displayed charge level looks healthy. The S357 interprets that voltage dropout as a fault condition and resets the active logging session to protect data integrity. This is not a faulty pack — it is the instrument responding to a momentary rail dip. Charge the battery to 100% before any session where continuous logging is required, and check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making full contact before deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Senter S357 shuts down the moment the probe module initialises — why does this happen with a new battery?
Probe initialisation draws a short current spike that can exceed the BMS cutoff threshold if the pack voltage is not fully topped up. A new pack shipped in partial charge state is the most common cause. Charge the battery to 100% before first use, then run the instrument's calibration cycle so the BMS and instrument firmware sync their state-of-charge reference before the probe is connected.
The S357 powers on fine but shuts off as soon as I start a USB data transfer to a PC — is the battery at fault?
USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of the active sensor load, and that combined current can push total consumption above the BMS trip point if the cell voltage is already sitting below 3.7V. The battery is doing its job — it is protecting the cells from an overdraw event. Top the pack up to full charge before any session involving simultaneous data transfer and active measurement, and use a quality USB cable to minimise resistive losses on the data line.
After the instrument sat in storage for several months, the S357 won't accept a charge at all — is the pack dead?
The pack is most likely in BMS sleep mode after self-discharging below the recovery threshold during storage. Connect the battery to a charger with a low-current pre-charge or recovery mode and leave it for 30–60 minutes. If cell voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell, the BMS will disengage the lockout and normal charging will resume. If voltage does not move at all after an hour on a recovery charger, the cells have likely over-discharged past recovery and the pack should be replaced.
