Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

GAIS FALTIMA-031 Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (12032009)
This is a 14.4V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the GAIS FALTIMA-031 cordless stick vacuum. It fits the FALTIMA-031, FALTIMA-031B, FALTIMA-031W, and FTM-031K models. When the original pack loses capacity or stops holding charge, this unit restores full motor voltage to the vacuum.
- FALTIMA-031 series fit: All listed variants share the same 14.4V voltage rail, physical connector, and BMS handshake. The cell count and pack geometry are identical across the 031, 031B, 031W, and FTM-031K, so one replacement covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full discharge and charge sequences on a FALTIMA-031 unit. The BMS accepted the handshake on first connection, and the motor drew current at the expected 14.4V nominal without triggering overcurrent cutoff under sustained load.
- Dock charging discipline: Do not leave the FALTIMA-031 sitting on the charging dock continuously. Cordless vacuums on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before battery indicator reaches low
On the FALTIMA-031, suction loss under a partially blocked filter appears before the battery indicator signals low. The motor has to work harder against restricted airflow, drawing higher current than the BMS expects at that state of charge. Voltage at the motor terminals sags under that elevated load even when the pack still reads mid-charge. Clear the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before assuming the battery is the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the FALTIMA-031 motor sustains a restricted airflow condition — blocked filter, tangled brush roll, or carpet pile jammed against the intake — current draw spikes and the BMS cuts the output to protect the cells. After the pack cools slightly, the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Fix the restriction first; if the cutoff continues on a clear filter with a fresh pack, check that the motor assembly is not binding mechanically. Normal operating current at 14.4V should not be enough to trip the BMS on an unobstructed clean surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
My FALTIMA-031 has noticeably weaker suction after a few months even with a clean filter — is the battery causing this?
Capacity fade from continuous dock charging is the most common cause on the FALTIMA-031 series. When the pack is left on the dock permanently, trickle charge cycles degrade the Ni-MH cells and available voltage under motor load drops, reducing suction even though the indicator shows full. Replace the battery and from that point charge only when depleted, then remove from the dock immediately once full. If suction stays weak after fitting the new pack, check for a partial blockage at the brush roll intake before anything else.
The motor on my FALTIMA-031 keeps cutting out for a few seconds then comes back on — what is triggering this?
The BMS is tripping on an overcurrent spike, which typically means the motor is fighting restricted airflow rather than a fault in the pack itself. A partially clogged filter or hair wrapped around the brush roll forces the motor to draw more than its rated current, and the BMS cuts the output to protect the cells. Remove and tap out the filter, clear the brush roll, and test again on a hard floor surface. If the cutoff stops, the restriction was the cause — not the battery.
My FALTIMA-031 runtime dropped sharply after I switched to this replacement pack compared to the original — what should I check first?
A restricted filter is the first thing to check. On the FALTIMA-031, a partially blocked filter causes the motor to draw well above its rated current, burning through the pack much faster than normal operation would. Clean or replace the filter, clear the brush roll, and retest. If runtime is still short on a clear, unobstructed run, verify the charger is bringing the pack to full 14.4V before use — an undercharged Ni-MH cell will under-deliver from the first clean.
