Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gorenje SVC180 / SVC180FW — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (861789)
This is an 18V 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Gorenje SVC180 and SVC180FW cordless stick vacuum. It fits directly in place of OEM part 861789. Both models run on the same 18V battery platform and use the same connector and BMS handshake.
- SVC180 and SVC180FW compatibility: Both variants share the same 18V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The same pack works across both without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through full charge and discharge cycles on the SVC180 platform. The BMS engaged cleanly at charge termination and triggered overcurrent protection correctly under blocked-airflow load simulation.
- Dock charging practice for the SVC180: Do not leave the SVC180 sitting on the charging dock continuously. These vacuums are often stored on-dock between uses, which pushes trickle current into a full cell. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the SVC180
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS's sustained-load threshold allows. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, increasing draw and triggering a protective voltage sag before the cell is genuinely depleted. The battery indicator reads remaining cell charge, not motor load — so it can still show mid-level while suction has already fallen off. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction recovers, the battery is not the issue.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When airflow is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the brush roll — the motor spikes above the BMS's peak current limit and the pack shuts output momentarily. The BMS resets after a brief thermal or timer delay, which is why the vacuum restarts. Clear the blockage, wait 10 seconds, and power back on. If the cutout continues on a clear vacuum with a new battery, measure pack voltage under load — it should hold above 15V during normal operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Gorenje SVC180 charges fine but suction feels weak right from the start — is the battery going?
Weak suction from a full charge usually points to a blocked filter or restricted nozzle, not a failing cell. A clogged filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which causes the BMS to throttle output before the cell even warms up. Remove and tap out the filter, clear the brush roll, then recharge and retest. If suction is still weak with a clean filter and a full 18V pack, test open-circuit voltage at the battery terminals — it should read 20.5–21V off a fresh charge.
The SVC180 used to last much longer between charges — what causes a replacement battery to fade faster than expected?
Continuous dock storage is the most common cause of accelerated capacity fade on stick vacuums. When the SVC180 sits on the dock after reaching full charge, the charger continues pushing a trickle current into cells that are already at maximum voltage. Over weeks, this degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycling would. Charge the battery to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when you need to recharge — that alone extends usable pack life significantly.
My Gorenje SVC180 won't charge on the new 861789 replacement battery — the charger light just blinks or does nothing.
Some Gorenje chargers run a handshake check before starting charge — if the BMS in the replacement pack is in a low-voltage sleep state, the charger may not initiate. Connect the battery and leave it on the dock for 10–15 minutes without interruption; some chargers need that window to wake a resting BMS. If the charger still shows no response, measure the battery's open-circuit voltage at the terminals — if it reads below 10V, the pack has deep-discharged and the BMS has locked output. At that point, the charger cannot recover it and the pack needs to be replaced.
