This is a 14.4V, 3500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Rowenta RH8801WH/2D2 cordless stick vacuum. It also fits the RH8801WH/9A0, RH8801WH/9A2, and RH8837K0/9A0 models. It replaces OEM part RS-RH5272 and restores power to the motorized cleaning head and suction system.
- RH8801 and RH8837 compatibility: These models share the same 14.4V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell pack covers all variants in the series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on RH8801-series hardware. The BMS held the correct charge threshold and cut off at the expected low-voltage floor without triggering false motor stops.
- Dock charging practice for RH8801 series: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. Rowenta stick vacuums in this series cycle trickle current through the pack even when full, which accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, remove from dock, recharge only when depleted.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the cell can deliver at its present state of charge. A partially blocked filter dramatically increases motor load, pulling the pack voltage below the point where suction stays consistent — even at 50–60% charge remaining. The BMS doesn't trip a full cutoff, so the indicator stays green while suction falls. Clean the filter first, then retest. If suction holds steady across a full discharge cycle, the filter was the cause, not the cell.
Motor cuts out briefly then recovers during use
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by a sustained spike in motor draw — most often from restricted airflow at the head or a clogged filter. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. It is not a faulty battery. Clear the blockage, check the filter, and confirm airflow through the cleaning head is unobstructed. If trips continue on a clean filter with this replacement pack, measure resting pack voltage — it should sit at or above 16.4V after a full charge.

The battery indicator on this series reflects cell voltage, not remaining capacity under load. When the filter is even partially blocked, the motor pulls harder, dragging cell voltage down faster than the indicator can reflect. Clean the foam and mesh filters thoroughly before concluding the battery is at fault. If suction stays consistent across the full discharge after cleaning, the pack is fine.
The vacuum ran fine for the first few weeks after I got it, but now the battery barely lasts compared to when it was new — what causes that?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade on this series. The charger keeps cycling low current through the pack even when full, which stresses the cells over weeks. Remove the vacuum from the dock once it reaches full charge and only return it when the pack is depleted. That single change slows capacity fade significantly.
The replacement battery isn't charging on my RH8801 — the charger light stays off or flashes — what should I check first?
Some Rowenta chargers for this series expect a BMS handshake before initiating charge. If the replacement pack's cells have dropped below the charger's detection threshold — typically around 10V — the charger won't start a charge cycle. Connect the pack and wait two minutes; some chargers wake a low pack with a trickle pulse before switching to full charge. If the light still doesn't respond after five minutes, check that the connector pins are seated fully and that the dock contacts are clean and making firm contact.
