Fits Shark 1010FK, EP750M, EP750ST, and EP750 cordless vacuums; replaces OEM part X8901.
15.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the voltage and capacity this handheld vacuum needs for sustained motor performance on full carpet loads.
Battery slides into the vertical charging dock with a simple push-to-seat connector; locking tab clicks when seated correctly.
We bench-tested this cell on the 1010FK platform — the BMS accepts the pack on first insertion without fault codes, and motor current draw stays steady under normal suction loads.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge; Ni-MH packs on trickle charge lose capacity faster than units charged only when depleted and removed.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Shark EP750 / 1010FK Series — 15.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (X8901)

This is a 15.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Shark cordless hand vacuum range. It fits the 1010FK, EP750, EP750M, and EP750ST models. OEM part number X8901 cross-references directly to these units.

  • EP750 and 1010FK platform fit: These models share the same 15.6V battery architecture, connector housing, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell covers the full range. Swapping between models in this group carries no electrical risk.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an EP750 unit. The BMS handshake completed cleanly, the charger accepted the pack without fault codes, and current draw tracked within spec under sustained suction load.
  • Dock charging habit on the EP750 range: Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells in continuous trickle charge degrade faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the EP750 series, suction loss often happens well before the battery light signals low charge. The motor in these hand vacuums draws more current when the filter is partially blocked — this pulls the cell voltage down faster than normal discharge would. The BMS reads the voltage sag and begins throttling power to the motor as a protective measure. Clean or replace the filter first before assuming the battery is the cause.

Motor cuts out mid-use, then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When restricted airflow forces the motor to work harder, current draw spikes past the BMS threshold and the pack shuts output temporarily. The BMS resets once current drops, which is why the vacuum restarts on its own. Check the filter and the nozzle path for blockages before the next use — if the filter is clear and trips continue, measure resting pack voltage; anything below 14.0V after a full charge indicates cell degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Shark EP750 loses suction strength halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows full — what's happening?

A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator tracks. The vacuum loses suction because the BMS is throttling motor power in response to that voltage sag — not because the battery is empty. Remove and clean the filter, then run the vacuum again. If suction stays consistent after that, the battery was not the issue.

The replacement X8901 battery is fully charged but my Shark hand vacuum won't charge at all on the dock — what should I check?

The Shark charger on these models expects a specific BMS handshake before it begins delivering charge current. If the pack sat deeply discharged before installation, the BMS may have entered a lockout state. Take the battery off the dock, wait two minutes, and reconnect — some units recover from this. If the charger still shows no activity, check that resting pack voltage is above 12.0V with a multimeter; below that, the charger circuit will not initiate a charge cycle.

After six months the Shark EP750 runs noticeably shorter than it did when the replacement battery was new — is this normal for Ni-MH?

Ni-MH cells are sensitive to continuous trickle charging, which is common when a vacuum lives permanently on its dock. That habit compresses cell capacity faster than charge-only-when-depleted cycles would. To slow further degradation, charge the pack fully and remove it from the dock rather than leaving it seated. If capacity has already dropped significantly, discharge the pack fully under normal use, charge to 100%, and repeat two more times — this partial reconditioning can recover some lost capacity in Ni-MH cells.
