Fits Whirlpool W6 and WVC-LI380Y cordless vacuums; replaces original 18V battery pack.
18V 2200mAh capacity delivers consistent motor voltage through full cleaning cycles on carpeted floors.
Connector slides into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against housing.
We bench-tested the BMS under sustained motor draw on restricted filter; no early cutoff observed.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously — trickle charge degrades the cell significantly faster than removing the pack when full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Whirlpool W6 / WVC-LI380Y — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Whirlpool W6 and WVC-LI380Y cordless vacuum cleaners. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same charging and motor control circuit as the factory pack. Use the product data capacity of 2200mAh (39.6Wh) as the reference — not third-party listings.

  • W6 and WVC-LI380Y compatibility: Both models run the same 18V motor rail and share an identical battery bay geometry and connector pinout. One pack covers both without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a cordless vacuum test rig. The BMS held voltage above the motor cutoff threshold under sustained suction load and tripped correctly at the low-cell threshold before damage could occur.
  • Dock charging discipline for the W6: Remove the vacuum from its charging dock once the battery reaches full charge. Cordless vacuums left on the dock indefinitely receive a continuous trickle current that accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Charge when depleted, then remove.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the W6

This happens when a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than its rated load. The voltage across the battery pack sags under that elevated draw, and the motor loses speed before the BMS registers a low-cell condition. The indicator reads the cell voltage at rest, not under load — so it shows mid-charge while suction is already weak. Clean or replace the filter first; if suction restores, the battery is fine.

W6 motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, blocked nozzle, or hair wrapped around the brush roll — the motor spikes well above its normal draw. The BMS trips the output to protect the cells. After a brief pause the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Clear the restriction, then confirm pack voltage reads at least 18V off the charger before ruling out a weak cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Whirlpool W6 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows full — what's happening?

The battery indicator reads cell voltage at rest, not under motor load. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which causes the pack voltage to sag and motor speed to drop before the indicator reacts. Clear the filter first — if suction comes back, the battery is not the problem. If suction stays weak with a clean filter, check pack voltage under load; it should hold above 16V while the motor is running.

The vacuum cuts out after a few seconds of use and starts again on its own — is the battery faulty?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Restricted airflow — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or tangled brush roll — causes a current spike the BMS interprets as a fault, so it shuts the output and resets after a short delay. We saw the same behaviour on the bench when we blocked the test rig inlet. Clear the restriction and the trips stop. If it trips on a clean, unblocked machine, measure pack voltage — it should sit at 18V off the charger.

The replacement battery charges fine at first but holds noticeably less after a few weeks — did I get a bad cell?

In most cases this is dock charging damage, not a defective cell. Leaving the W6 on its charging dock continuously after a full charge pushes a trickle current through the Li-ion cells indefinitely, which degrades capacity faster than normal cycling. Remove the vacuum from the dock once charging completes. If you have already done this and capacity is still dropping, do one full discharge-to-cutoff followed by a single uninterrupted charge cycle — this lets the BMS recalibrate its state-of-charge reading.
