Why the Aspire One 532h shuts down at 20–30% charge remaining

The 532h uses a fuel gauge IC that builds a charge map against the original cell's impedance curve. When a new cell is installed, the stored map no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The EC firmware hits its low-voltage protection threshold earlier than the displayed percentage suggests — triggering an abrupt shutdown. Running two to three full discharge-recharge calibration cycles rewrites the map against the new cell and brings the shutdown point back in line with the displayed percentage.

BIOS reporting the replacement battery as poor health or unknown

This is an EEPROM data mismatch, not a fault with the new cell. The Acer BIOS compares the incoming battery's EEPROM health data against the previous cell's logged cycle count and capacity history. A fresh cell with zero cycles reads as anomalous and triggers the warning. Run the battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then a full uninterrupted charge — and the BIOS health indicator will update to normal on the next boot.

My Aspire One 532h shows 100% battery but cuts out without warning — why?

The fuel gauge IC on the 532h calibrates against the original cell's impedance profile. A new cell has a different discharge curve, so the gauge reads falsely high until it re-learns. The netbook hits the EC's low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage catches up. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate then full-recharge cycles to recalibrate the gauge against the new cell.

Windows is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says 40Wh, not 47.52Wh. Is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM data embedded in the pack, which stores the rated factory value from the original cell chemistry batch. The actual measured capacity of this 4400mAh cell at 10.8V is 47.52Wh. The display discrepancy is an EEPROM versus real-chemistry difference and has no effect on how the battery charges or discharges.

The Aspire One 532h stopped charging above 80% after I installed this battery — is the cell faulty?

Charge stopping at 80% is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Some Acer BIOS versions activate a battery protection mode that caps charge at 80% — check the Power Management settings in the Acer system utility or BIOS under Battery Health Mode. Disable that setting, then do a full discharge cycle and recharge to confirm the cell accepts a full charge to 4.20V per cell.
