Fits Advent A440 laptop; replaces OEM part numbers A44, 21-91026-50, 21-91081-00, 21-91082-00, 21-91083-00, 21-91083-04, 21-91083-20, 21-91083-40, 21-92079-00, 21-92079-35, 21-92079-40, 21-92110-01, 21-92110-40, 21-92130-30.
14.8V 4400mAh lithium-ion delivers 65.12Wh to sustain full CPU and display load without early shutdown.
Connector type and slot orientation match the A440 socket; locking tab seats flush against the battery bay wall.
We bench-tested this cell in an A440 unit; the BMS accepted the new firmware handshake on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false poor-health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Advent A440 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A44)

This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Advent A440 laptop. It replaces the original cell when the existing battery no longer holds charge or fails to power the machine. OEM part numbers covered include A44, 21-91026-50, and the full 21-91083 and 21-92079 variant series.

  • A440 cell fitment: The A440 uses a 14.8V four-cell series configuration. All OEM part variants in this listing share the same voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — so the same replacement cell covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a live A440 board. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge current ramped to CC phase without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-cycle calibration on the A440: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to complete against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old degraded cell. Under full CPU and display load, the new cell's actual voltage curve doesn't match the stored data, so the laptop hits a voltage cliff it wasn't expecting. The system shuts down to protect itself even though remaining capacity exists. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's voltage curve and the shutdowns stop.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after fitting

The BIOS reads health state from EEPROM data written by the previous cell's charge cycles — not from the new cell's actual chemistry. A fresh cell registers as degraded because cycle count and capacity data from the old unit are still in memory. This is not a fault with the replacement. Complete one full learn cycle — discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the BIOS health status resets to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Advent A440 show the wrong Wh rating in Windows after fitting the new battery?

Windows reads the Wh figure from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS — this is a rated design value, not a live measurement. The replacement cell reports 65.12Wh, which matches the actual chemistry, but if Windows cached a different figure from the old cell it may display incorrectly for a cycle or two. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted recharge. Windows Energy Report should correct to 65.12Wh after the fuel gauge IC completes its first calibration pass.

The A440 fuel gauge swings wildly between charge levels for the first few uses — is the cell faulty?

No. The fuel gauge IC inside the laptop uses a stored charge-curve model built from the old cell's behaviour. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the gauge overshoots and undershoots until it accumulates enough data points. We see this on the bench after every cell swap — it settles within two to three full cycles. Let the laptop discharge to hibernate cutoff and recharge to 100% without interruption on each of those first cycles.

New battery fitted but the A440 won't charge above 80% — what's blocking it?

This is a BIOS-level charge limit, not a battery fault. Some Advent and OEM BIOS builds enable a charge threshold to reduce cell stress — the battery itself is accepting charge normally up to that cutoff. Check the power management settings in the BIOS setup menu and look for a battery charge threshold or conservation mode option. Disable it, save, and reboot — the cell will then charge to the full 14.8V terminal voltage.
