Fits Akerstroms BC85, BC95, M-200J, and RMC31 crane remotes; replaces OEM part numbers 932482-000, 365-2000, and 928862-000.
7.4V lithium-ion cell delivers 2600mAh capacity; powers solenoid activation and wireless signal transmission without voltage sag during load events.
Connector slides vertically into battery slot with positive contact tab facing outward; locking tab seats flush against remote housing wall.
We charged the cell to full capacity, ran 50 solenoid cycles at maximum draw, and logged stable voltage delivery throughout discharge phase.
For crane remotes sitting idle between shifts, charge monthly even without use — cells discharged below 2.5V per cell enter BMS lockout and may not accept charge without 30-minute initial connection.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Akerstroms BC85 / BC95 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (932482-000)

This 7.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces part number 932482-000 in Akerstroms crane remote control units. It fits the BC85, BC95, M-200J, RMC31, and compatible models in the same series. Each cell pack ships at storage voltage — charge before first use.

  • BC85 / BC95 / M-200J / RMC31 compatibility: These remotes share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery pack covers the range without any modification to the remote housing or charging cradle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated solenoid-activation sequences on a BC85 unit. The BMS held voltage through inrush events without triggering dropout. Cell balance stayed within 30mV across five discharge cycles.
  • Monthly charge requirement for idle remotes: Crane remotes stored between lifts can sit uncharged for months. Li-ion cells that drop below 2.5V per cell trigger a deep-discharge BMS lockout. Connect this pack to the cradle charger once a month during any idle period to keep cells above that threshold.

Solenoid activation causing power dropout on a new battery

When a crane remote fires a solenoid or relay, the inrush current spike can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold. An aged or undercharged cell pack has higher internal resistance, which amplifies the voltage sag at that moment. This trips the BMS protection circuit and the remote drops power mid-command. A fully charged pack at 8.4V reduces internal resistance enough to absorb the inrush without triggering the cutoff.

Remote shows low battery immediately after installing a new cell

Li-ion packs ship at approximately 3.7V per cell — roughly 50% state of charge — to meet safe transport requirements. The BC85 firmware reads resting voltage to estimate charge state, so a storage-voltage pack will display a low-battery warning on power-up. This is not a fault with the battery. Place the pack in the cradle charger and charge to 8.4V before operating the remote.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Akerstroms BC85 remote won't turn on after sitting unused for several months — is the battery dead?

Most likely the battery entered deep-discharge BMS lockout. When Li-ion cells drop below 2.5V per cell from prolonged storage, the BMS disconnects the output circuit as a protection measure. Connect the battery to the cradle charger for at least 30 minutes — the charger applies a low-current pre-charge that nudges the cells above the lockout threshold and allows the BMS to re-engage. If the charger LED switches to normal charge mode, the pack is recovering.

The crane remote cuts out the moment I activate the hoist — it powers back on immediately but drops every time I trigger a lift command.

This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by solenoid inrush current. The relay or solenoid draws a sharp current spike at activation, and if the battery's internal resistance is elevated — either from a low state of charge or an aged cell — the voltage sags hard enough to trip the BMS overcurrent cutoff. Charge the battery fully to 8.4V before use. A fully charged pack has lower internal resistance and absorbs the inrush spike without triggering protection.

The E-stop response on the BC85 feels sluggish — there's a noticeable lag between pressing the button and the crane stopping.

E-stop response time in these remotes is partially voltage-dependent — the RF transmission power and microcontroller response speed both degrade as cell voltage drops below nominal. A battery reading under 7.0V at rest will show this lag. Check the charge state before any safety-critical lift and ensure the pack is at or near 8.4V. Do not rely on the low-battery indicator alone; measure resting voltage directly if a charger with a voltage readout is available.
