Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch Pop Up / OT-6044 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp020EC)
This is a 3.8V, 1900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Alcatel One Touch Pop Up and One Touch Pop Up LTE Dual SIM (OT-6044, OT-6044D). It replaces OEM part number TLp020EC. Fit this battery when the original cell no longer holds charge through a normal day of use.
- OT-6044 and OT-6044D compatibility: Both the standard and Dual SIM variants use the same 3.8V cell with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake — one battery covers both boards without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the OT-6044 board. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, and protection thresholds triggered correctly at both high-voltage cutoff and low-voltage floor.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — skipping this step is the main cause of erratic percentage readings.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the OT-6044 after a cell swap
When the fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, it misjudges remaining capacity on the new cell. The OT-6044's modem and display draw combined current spikes that cause the new cell's voltage to drop below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage still shows charge remaining. The phone sees a voltage cliff and cuts power to protect the cell. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the coulomb counter to reset its reference points against the new cell.
Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage, and if the TLp020EC cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks charge input to prevent thermal runaway on an over-discharged cell. The phone will show no response to the charge cable and will not boot. Connect the phone to a wall adapter — not a USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC applies a trickle current that brings the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The OT-6044 shows 25% battery and then just switches off — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the OT-6044 is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell — so it misreads where the voltage cliff sits on the new cell. Under the combined load of the modem and screen, voltage drops sharply at that point and the BMS cuts power. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the TLp020EC — the phone just trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes does not negotiate the fast-charge protocol with a new BMS until a baseline cycle has completed. This is not a defect. Let the phone complete one full charge at standard rate without interruption. On the second charge cycle, plug into the original fast-charge adapter — the protocol handshake re-establishes once the BMS has one completed cycle logged against the new cell.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, drops to 40%, then climbs back up without charging.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell after the old, degraded reference data was removed. The coulomb counter loses its fixed reference points when the cell is swapped, so percentage reports become unstable until it relearns the discharge curve. Do not interrupt the next charge cycle. Allow one complete discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle, the percentage readings stabilise.
