Fits Apple Watch Series 5 model MWWP2LLA and Watch SE 1st gen; replaces OEM part A2277.
3.82V, 240mAh lithium-polymer cell powers processor, display, sensors, and wireless connectivity.
Connector solders directly to watch mainboard; no physical locking mechanism present.
We bench-tested this cell in a Series 5 host; BMS recognized capacity within two charge cycles.
After fitting the new cell, charge immediately to 100% — the fuel gauge IC cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero after cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple Watch SE 40mm — 3.82V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2277)

This is a 3.82V, 240mAh lithium-polymer cell replacing Apple part A2277. It fits the Apple Watch SE 1st generation 40mm (MWWP2LLA, A2351, A2353) and Apple Watch Series 5 40mm variants. Swap this cell when the original shows rapid drain, fails to hold charge, or the watch shuts down under normal use.

  • SE 40mm and Series 5 40mm shared cell: Both platforms use the same 40mm chassis dimensions, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why Apple used one part number — A2277 — across both watch generations. The voltage rail and flex connector are identical.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated this cell in a Series 5 40mm chassis and confirmed BMS communication, stable 3.82V open-circuit voltage, and correct charge termination through a full cycle on a magnetic charger. No charge-rejection faults were triggered.
  • Post-swap charge sequence on watchOS: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and run it to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC loses its reference point when the original cell is disconnected — it cannot calibrate accurately without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a swap.

Why the Watch SE 40mm reads 0% and refuses to boot after a cell swap

The Apple Watch fuel gauge IC — a coulomb counter on the S5 and S7 SiP — stores charge-state data referenced to the original cell's impedance profile. When you disconnect the old cell, that reference is lost. The IC has no valid data, defaults to zero, and the watch may refuse to boot rather than risk running the display and sensors into an unknown low-voltage state. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Placing the watch on its charger immediately after reassembly lets the IC re-establish a baseline. Once it reads a confirmed full charge, normal boot and gauge behaviour returns.

Always-on display and continuous heart rate monitoring draining the new cell in under a day

The always-on display on Series 5 and SE models draws current continuously from the LTPO panel, and the optical heart rate sensor pulses the LED array at up to 32 samples per second in workout mode — both are significant loads on a 240mAh cell. If drain feels heavier than expected in the first week, the sensor is also calibrating its signal against the new cell's internal resistance, which can cause slightly elevated current draw. Disable always-on display temporarily and set heart rate monitoring to automatic rather than continuous. If drain normalises after seven days, the calibration period has passed; if not, check that a background app is not holding a continuous workout session open in the Watch app.

Frequently Asked Questions

My watch won't pair with my iPhone after I replaced the battery — Bluetooth keeps failing

Removing the battery cuts power to the W2 chip, which drops the active BLE session entirely. The iPhone still holds the old pairing record, but the watch has lost its session state, and they no longer sync cleanly. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap your watch, select "Unpair Apple Watch," then re-pair from scratch. This takes about three minutes and resolves the issue.

The charge contacts on the magnetic charger aren't connecting properly since I swapped the cell — the watch just won't charge

The magnetic charger aligns to a set of gold contact pads on the watch's caseback. If the back panel shifted even half a millimetre during reassembly, the magnet will still seat but the contacts miss. Remove the back cover again, reseat it with firm, even pressure around the full perimeter, and confirm the adhesive or clips are fully engaged before testing. Then place the watch on the charger and look for the charging indicator within 10 seconds.

The heart rate sensor seems to be killing the new battery much faster than the old one ever did

A new cell has a different internal impedance profile than an aged one, and the optical HR sensor's signal-processing circuit adjusts its LED drive current to compensate — this runs slightly higher on a fresh cell during the first week. That elevated draw is temporary. Set heart rate monitoring to automatic in Settings → Privacy → Health → Heart Rate and confirm no third-party fitness app is holding a continuous HR session open. If drain is still abnormal after seven days, check sensor contact — a loosely seated back cover lifts the HR sensor off the skin, forcing it to boost power to get a reading.
