Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos 50F NEON — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC50F)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1000mAh (3.7Wh), built as a direct swap for the Archos 50F NEON smartphone. It replaces a degraded or failed original cell that can no longer sustain voltage under normal phone load. Fits the 50F NEON only — confirm your model before ordering.
- 50F NEON fitment: The AC50F and AC50FNEV part numbers both reference this specific cell format — same voltage rail, same connector pinout, same physical footprint at 70.50 × 52.78 × 4.36mm. No adapter or modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence, monitoring BMS behaviour at cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage floor with no false trips during normal load swings.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Archos 50F NEON after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. The modem radio and display draw short bursts of high current, and if the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, it misreads remaining capacity. The new cell's actual voltage drops below the shutdown threshold under that load spike before the gauge reaches zero. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these premature shutdowns.
Device not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone appears completely dead — no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell long enough to lift it above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Archos 50F NEON shows the wrong battery percentage after I put in a new cell — is the battery faulty?
The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC inside the phone learned the discharge curve of the original cell over hundreds of cycles, and it is now applying that stored curve to a new cell with different characteristics. The percentage reading will drift or jump until the coulomb counter recalibrates. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging — that single cycle is usually enough to correct the readout.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my Archos 50F NEON — what happened?
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, some charge controllers fall back to standard 5V charging while the BMS handshake re-establishes itself with the new cell. This is normal and not a sign of a bad battery. Unplug the charger completely, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect — on the second cycle the fast-charge protocol usually negotiates correctly. If it still does not engage, complete one full standard charge first; the controller sometimes requires a baseline cycle before re-enabling high-current input.
My Archos 50F NEON feels warm near the battery area during the first few charges with the new cell — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth on the first one to three charge cycles is normal. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC works against a little more resistance as it pushes current in. That resistance drops as the cell goes through initial cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or charge cuts off repeatedly, stop charging and check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection forces the charge IC to work harder and generates excess heat.
