Fits Artfone CF241A, CS181, and CS181A phones; replaces OEM battery type BRD420SL.
3.7V, 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.33Wh to restore full runtime on aged devices.
Connector slides into standard smartphone slot with no mechanical modification needed.
We charged this cell in the CF241A at 5V/1A; BMS accepted input without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one full discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Artfone CF241A / CS181 / CS181A — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh (3.33Wh) Li-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the Artfone CF241A, CS181, and CS181A. All three models share the same battery bay dimensions (53.00 × 34.00 × 4.80mm) and voltage rail. Fit the cell, close the cover, and the phone powers on normally.

  • CF241A, CS181, and CS181A compatibility: These three Artfone models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector pinout and physical footprint. The BMS on each device accepts this cell without configuration changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the CF241A platform. The charge IC accepted the cell on the first cycle, BMS protection tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge without error flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The fuel gauge IC on these Artfone models calibrates its discharge curve against the first full cycle — skipping this step leaves the coulomb counter reading against the old cell's curve.

Why the CF241A reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the CF241A stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The phone reads voltage, maps it to the old curve, and displays an inaccurate percentage. One full discharge-charge cycle overwrites the stored curve and realigns the coulomb counter to the new cell's behaviour.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC still references a degraded cell's voltage curve. As load increases — screen backlight, network polling — the new cell's voltage drops briefly below the threshold the phone expects at that reported percentage. The system interprets this as a critical low-voltage event and shuts down. Run one complete calibration cycle first. If shutdowns persist after calibration, check that the display percentage stabilises above 3.6V under moderate load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Artfone CF241A won't turn on at all after fitting the new battery — what's happening?

If the replacement cell sat in storage for an extended period, its voltage may have dropped below 2.5V, triggering BMS lockout. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC needs a trickle-charge phase to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the charging indicator appears, the BMS has recovered and the cell will charge normally from that point.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then drops to 15%, then climbs back up. What causes this?

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating after a cell swap. The coulomb counter is still referencing the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell, so voltage readings map incorrectly to percentage figures. Run the phone down to automatic shutdown once, then charge it to 100% without interruption. After that single full cycle, the IC recalculates its reference curve against the new cell and the displayed percentage stabilises.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

Some heat during the first few charge cycles is expected. A new high-impedance cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat in the early cycles. The temperature should drop noticeably after two or three full cycles as internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, remove it from the charger and let it cool — then resume charging and check that you are not using a fast-charge adapter above 5V/1A with this model.
