Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus ChromeBook CX9 / ExpertBook B3 Flip — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C31N2005)
This is an 11.55V, 4200mAh (48.51Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Asus ChromeBook CX9 and ExpertBook B3 Flip series, including the B3402FBA and B3402FEA. It fits where the original C31N2005 cell sits and restores unplugged operation when the factory battery has degraded or failed. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.
- ChromeBook CX9 and ExpertBook B3 Flip platform fit: Both the CX9 and B3402 series run the same 3-cell 11.55V battery rail with a shared connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. That is why one cell covers both lines — the charge controller negotiates identically across the platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, load discharge, and thermal checks. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC, current tapered as expected at top-of-charge, and no protection trips occurred under sustained display-plus-CPU load.
- Post-install calibration on the CX9: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that consistently appears after a cell swap on this platform.
Why the CX9 reports poor battery health immediately after a new cell install
The CX9 BIOS stores learned charge parameters from the previous cell in EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, those cached values no longer match actual cell behaviour — so the firmware flags a health warning before it has run a single calibration cycle. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. The health indicator reads against stored history, not live chemistry. One complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge gives the BIOS enough data to overwrite the stale EEPROM values and report correctly.
CX9 shutting down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge miscalculates remaining capacity, and when the real cell voltage drops under full CPU-plus-display load, the system hits undervoltage protection before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It looks like an early shutdown but is a calibration lag. Run two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles without interrupting either phase. After that, the gauge IC maps the new cell's discharge curve accurately and the cutoff will align with the percentage shown — typically stabilising at or below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ChromeBook CX9 is showing battery health as "poor" or "unknown" straight after fitting the new cell — is the replacement faulty?
It is not faulty. The BIOS reads health against EEPROM data written by the old cell, so any new cell triggers that warning until the learn cycle runs. Discharge the laptop fully until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. After that single cycle the BIOS overwrites the stale values and the health status clears.
The system info on my CX9 is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it doesn't match 48.51Wh.
The Wh figure displayed in Chrome OS or Windows pulls from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's fuel gauge IC, which is sometimes programmed to the rated design capacity rather than the real-world chemistry value. This is a reporting difference, not a capacity shortfall. The cell delivers its full 48.51Wh during normal use regardless of what the system info panel displays. No action is needed unless the fuel gauge behaviour is also off — in that case, run two full calibration cycles.
My CX9 fuel gauge is jumping around wildly — showing 60%, then 80%, then 45% within minutes of each other.
The fuel gauge IC calibrates its state-of-charge algorithm against actual discharge data from the cell it is paired with. A brand-new cell has no history in the IC, so the first one to three cycles produce erratic readings as the algorithm converges. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles without unplugging mid-charge. By the third cycle the gauge should track within a few percent across the full voltage range of 8.7V depleted to 12.6V charged.
