Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Asus VivoBook F102BA Series — 11.25V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A31N1311)
This is an 11.25V, 2940mAh Li-ion battery for the Asus VivoBook F102BA and X102B series — compact 10-inch notebooks running the AMD A4/E1 platform. It replaces OEM part numbers A31N1311, 0B110-00260100, 0B110-00260000, 0B110-00260200, and A31LM25. Fit also covers the VivoBook F200CA and F102BA-SH41T variants.
- F102BA / X102B platform fit: These models share the same three-cell Li-ion configuration, 11.25V nominal rail, and connector pinout. The BMS communicates over the same SMBus line, so the BIOS reads charge state and cell health from the same register map across all variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an F102BA unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error, balanced all three cells within 20mV at top-of-charge, and the BIOS cleared the low-health flag after one complete learn cycle.
- First-cycle reset after swap: After fitting this battery, discharge the laptop fully until it hibernates at its cutoff threshold, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This forces the BIOS to run its battery learn cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears immediately after every cell replacement.
Why the F102BA BIOS flags a new battery as poor health on first boot
The F102BA stores battery health data in the EEPROM of the original cell's BMS chip. When you swap the cell, the BIOS reads fresh EEPROM from the new battery and sees a Wh rating and cycle count that don't match its stored baseline — it flags this as degraded. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge resets the learn cycle. After two to three full cycles, the BIOS health indicator returns to normal.
VivoBook shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The old curve had a different voltage cliff point, so the system hits what it thinks is empty well before the cell is actually depleted. The fix is calibration: let the battery discharge fully to the hardware cutoff, then charge to 100% at least twice without interruption. After calibration cycles, the gauge aligns the 0% threshold to the cell's actual resting voltage of approximately 9.0V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My F102BA says the battery is at 0% and won't boot off the charger alone after I fitted the new cell — what's wrong?
The BIOS has lost the SMBus handshake with the new cell's BMS chip, usually because the cell shipped at a very low state of charge and the protection circuit tripped. Connect the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing power — the BMS needs trickle current to recover from deep-discharge lockout. If the system still shows 0% after that, check that the connector is fully seated; a half-inserted plug breaks the SMBus data line even when the power pins make contact. Once the BIOS reads a valid charge state above roughly 10.5V resting, it will boot normally.
Windows is reporting 33Wh but my old battery showed a different Wh rating in system info — is this cell the wrong capacity?
The Wh value Windows shows comes from the EEPROM in the battery's BMS, not from a live measurement. Different OEM batches store slightly different rated values in that register, so the number in system info can vary from the physical cell's actual capacity. This cell is rated at 33.08Wh at 2940mAh — that figure is accurate. If you want to confirm it, run a full discharge cycle and check the mWh logged by Windows Battery Report; it should land within a few percent of 33,000mWh on a calibrated cell.
The F102BA charge indicator stops at 80% and won't go higher — is the new battery faulty?
This is almost always the BIOS charge-limit feature, not a cell fault. Asus firmware on several VivoBook models activates a charge ceiling at 80% to reduce cell stress — it's a firmware setting, not a hardware cap. Open MyASUS or ASUS Battery Health Charging utility and check whether "Balanced Mode" or a charge limit is enabled; switching to "Full Capacity Mode" lifts the ceiling back to 100%. If neither utility is installed, check BIOS under Advanced → Battery Health Charging and set it to Maximum Lifespan off.
