Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T Gophone GEMINI / OT871AG — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion cell is a direct replacement for the AT&T Gophone GEMINI and OT871AG. It fits the original battery compartment and connects to the same charge circuit used in both variants. No OEM part number is published for this cell, but the physical dimensions — 49.34 × 40.00 × 4.45mm — match the stock battery slot exactly.
- GEMINI and OT871AG compatibility: Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The charge management IC on each board accepts the same cutoff voltage, so one cell fits both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran a full charge-discharge cycle and confirmed the BMS held charge termination at 4.2V and triggered low-voltage cutoff cleanly. No thermal spikes during the CC-CV transition.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC a complete reference curve for the new cell and prevents erratic percentage readings from the first day.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Gophone GEMINI
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. When the modem transmits or the screen runs at full brightness, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even if the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. An aged or freshly installed uncalibrated cell hits this cliff earlier than expected. Run one full discharge-charge cycle and let the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's actual discharge curve. After calibration, the reported percentage and the real cutoff point align closer to 5–8% rather than 25–30%.
Phone won't power on after sitting in storage
Li-ion cells left uncharged below roughly 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout state — the battery stops responding to a standard charge handshake. The phone sees no valid cell voltage and won't boot. Connect the phone to a wall adapter, not a USB port on a computer, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC on the phone board sends a low-current recovery pulse that brings the cell back above the 2.5V re-enable threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Gophone GEMINI keeps shutting off when I'm on a call even though the battery shows 25% — why?
The fuel gauge IC on the GEMINI is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage it displays doesn't match the new cell's actual voltage behaviour. Under the current spike of an active call, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge reaches zero. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge — this recalibrates the coulomb counter against the new cell. After that cycle, shutdowns at falsely high percentages should stop.
The battery percentage on my GEMINI jumps around — it showed 60%, then jumped to 40% in two minutes without me doing anything. Is the battery faulty?
The cell is not faulty — the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating after the swap. The coulomb counter was trained on the old cell's impedance and discharge profile, and it loses accuracy on a new cell until it has a full reference cycle. Let the phone drain fully to auto-shutoff, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After one clean cycle the percentage readings stabilise and the jumps stop.
My GEMINI won't charge at all after it sat in a drawer for several months — the screen stays black when I plug it in.
A cell left uncharged for months can drop below 2.5V, which puts the BMS into lockout mode. In lockout the battery presents no usable voltage, so the phone board won't initialise and the screen stays dark. Plug the phone into a 5V wall adapter — not a laptop USB port, which may not deliver enough current — and leave it connected for at least 20 minutes without pressing any buttons. The phone's charge IC delivers a trickle recovery pulse; once the cell climbs back above 2.5V the BMS re-enables and normal charging begins.
