Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AudioVox CDM-8915 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTR-8915)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh Li-ion battery for the AudioVox CDM-8915 mobile phone. It replaces OEM part numbers BTR-8915 and BLI-994-8. If your original battery no longer holds a charge or the phone dies unexpectedly, this cell restores normal operation.

  • CDM-8915 fit confirmation: The CDM-8915 uses a 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack with a three-contact connector — positive, negative, and a BSI (battery status indicator) pin. This replacement matches that connector layout and BSI resistor value so the phone recognises the pack on first boot without throwing a battery fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and recharge sequence on the CDM-8915 platform. The BMS accepted charge from the phone's internal charge IC without triggering an overvoltage cutoff, and the cell held stable voltage under both voice-call and standby load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration tip: After installing this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The CDM-8915's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the percentage meter to read inaccurately for weeks.

Why the CDM-8915 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The CDM-8915 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by measuring current in and out of the cell over time. When the original cell degrades, the phone quietly recalibrates its internal charge map to match a reduced capacity. A new 850mAh cell presents a different discharge curve, so the gauge overestimates depletion early in the cycle and reads as full too quickly. One complete uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycle after the first full discharge forces the IC to rebuild its reference map against the new cell. After that single calibration cycle, percentage accuracy returns to normal.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the phone's modem transmit burst pulls current the cell cannot sustain at that state of charge, causing terminal voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is most common in the first few cycles before the fuel gauge IC has mapped the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity curve. Run the calibration cycle described above: one full discharge to shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. If shutdowns continue past two full cycles, check that the BSI contact on the battery is clean and making solid contact with the phone's connector pin.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CDM-8915 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked the cell out after voltage dropped below the 2.5V recovery threshold during storage. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will allow a normal charge rate or boot sequence. If the charge indicator light comes on at any point, the cell is recovering. Once it reaches approximately 3.5V the phone will power on normally.

The battery percentage on my CDM-8915 keeps jumping around — it'll show 60%, then drop to 40% without warning, then climb back up.

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and its reference table is still mismatched from the old degraded cell. Erratic percentage jumps are normal for the first two or three cycles after a replacement. Do not top up the battery mid-cycle during this period — let it run down to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. By the second full cycle the readings should stabilise.

The CDM-8915 feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected during the first few charge cycles on a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which means the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat until the cell completes its first few cycles. If the phone is warm but not hot to the touch and cools down once charging finishes, that is within normal range. If the back of the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, disconnect the charger and verify you are not using a charger rated above the CDM-8915's standard 5V/500mA input.
