Fits Bard Medsystem Site Rite 5 and Site Rite 6 ultrasound systems; replaces OEM battery OM0045.
10.8V, 2100mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 22.68Wh to sustain full imaging cycles without mid-procedure shutdown.
Battery slides into the rear compartment slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats with firm click.
We bench-tested this cell across three full charge-discharge cycles; BMS accepted the new pack after cycle two without fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test without interruption — the Site Rite platform verifies battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false low-battery alarm that clears only on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bard Medsystem Site Rite 5 / Site Rite 6 — 10.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (OM0045)

This is a 10.8V, 2100mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Bard Medsystem Site Rite 5 and Site Rite 6 portable ultrasound systems. Both units use real-time ultrasound imaging to guide vascular access procedures and require a stable, sustained power supply throughout clinical use. This cell matches the OEM voltage, capacity, and connector spec for both models.

  • Site Rite 5 and 6 compatibility: Both models share the same 10.8V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single battery revision covers both generations without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Site Rite charge-discharge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell, reported state-of-charge correctly, and cleared the low-battery flag after one full cycle.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Site Rite runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

Site Rite BMS learn cycle and why the first charge matters

The Site Rite 5 and 6 use a charge IC that applies a conservative current limit when it sees a new or unfamiliar cell. On the first charge, the BMS samples cell impedance and sets its internal thresholds. If the battery skips a full charge-discharge before clinical use, the BMS may report capacity lower than actual, and the low-battery alarm may trigger early. One complete charge-discharge cycle lets the controller calibrate its state-of-charge model against the real cell chemistry.

Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge

This happens because the charge IC defaults to a reduced top-off current when it first encounters a new Ni-MH cell — it interprets the fresh cell's lower internal resistance as a potential fault condition. The controller holds the charge state at 90–95% until it accumulates enough cycle data to trust the cell. Run one full discharge under normal imaging load, then recharge completely. After that cycle, the indicator should reach 100% and hold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Site Rite 5 shows a low battery alarm right after a confirmed full charge — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The Site Rite's BMS stores threshold data calibrated to the original OEM cell, and a fresh Ni-MH cell reads differently at the impedance level until it has been cycled. The alarm clears once the controller has logged one complete charge-discharge cycle and updated its internal reference. Run a full discharge under normal imaging load, recharge completely, and the alarm should not return.

The Site Rite 6 will not power on after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for several weeks — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature, so several weeks of shelf storage can drop the pack below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V for a 10.8V Ni-MH pack. At that voltage, the BMS locks out the discharge path to protect the cells and the device simply will not respond. Place the battery on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle; if the charger accepts it and the voltage climbs above 10V within the first 30 minutes, the pack is recovering normally.

The Site Rite 5 shuts off without warning during an active imaging session — the battery shows charged before the procedure starts.

This is a load-profile issue, not a charge issue. During active ultrasound imaging, the Site Rite draws peak current bursts that stress a new Ni-MH cell harder than the standby state the BMS uses for its pre-procedure state-of-charge reading. In the first 10 cycles, new cells show higher internal resistance under load, which causes a sharper voltage sag — the BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff even though the resting charge looked adequate. Complete at least five full charge-discharge cycles before relying on this battery for uninterrupted clinical procedures.
