Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Berner BACAG Series — 18V Li-ion 2000mAh Replacement Battery (BBP 18)
This is an 18V 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for Berner cordless power tools. It fits the BACAG, BACCG, BACDE, and BACDWD BL series, along with four additional compatible models. OEM part numbers are BBP 18 and 175187.
- BACAG and BACCG platform compatibility: These models share the same 18V battery rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell configuration and terminal layout are consistent across the series, so one replacement covers multiple tools in the lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated drill and impact driver cycles. The BMS handled repeated motor-start inrush current without false overcurrent trips, and cell voltage recovery after load was consistent across the discharge curve.
- Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This allows the BMS to profile the inrush current draw from your specific motor before setting its overcurrent protection thresholds.
BMS cutoff on drill motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger on a drill or impact driver, the motor draws a spike of current well above its running load — sometimes three to five times higher. A new or storage-discharged pack has elevated internal resistance, which amplifies the voltage sag at that spike. If the sag crosses the BMS undervoltage threshold, the pack shuts off instantly. Charge the pack fully before the first work cycle and condition it at half load to prevent this trip.
Charger not recognising the pack after extended storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time. If a pack sits long enough, cell voltage can drop below the threshold most chargers use to confirm a healthy pack — typically around 2.5V per cell. The charger sees the low voltage as a fault condition and refuses to begin a charge cycle, often showing a blinking red indicator. Use a charger with a recovery or boost mode to nudge cell voltage above 3.0V per cell, at which point a standard charge cycle will begin normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Berner drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tight screw — what's happening?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current. At trigger-pull, the motor draws a short current spike that can exceed the BMS protection threshold, especially if the pack is partially discharged or cold. Charge the pack fully before use and run two light-load cycles to let the BMS profile your motor's inrush draw. If it still trips, check the battery rail contacts on the tool for oxidation — high contact resistance worsens the voltage sag that triggers the cutoff.
The tool bogs down and loses torque under sustained drilling load even though the battery shows charged — why?
This is voltage sag under load, not a charge issue. As cell temperature rises during sustained use, internal resistance increases and the voltage rail drops — the tool's motor receives less voltage and loses torque. It's more pronounced if the cells have degraded from repeated shallow cycling, which prevents them from fully utilising their rated 2000mAh capacity. Let the pack cool for ten minutes between heavy sessions and check that the terminal contacts are clean and fully seated to keep contact resistance low.
The battery works fine indoors but drops off fast when I use it outside in winter — is the pack faulty?
It's not a fault — Li-ion internal resistance rises significantly below 5°C, which reduces the usable capacity the cells can deliver under load. The pack isn't damaged; it's behaving normally for the chemistry. Keep the battery inside or in a jacket pocket until you're ready to use it, and let it warm to at least 10°C before fitting it to the tool. Capacity returns to normal once cell temperature rises back above that threshold.
