Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker BDCDMT112 Series — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBXR12)
This is a 12V Li-ion replacement battery for the Black & Decker BDCDMT112 compact drill/driver and compatible 12V platform tools. Rated at 2500mAh (30Wh), it fits the same slide-in battery port and connector as the original LBXR12, BL1110, BL1310, BL1510, LB12, and LBX12 packs. It also covers the EGBL108, EGBL108KB, GKC108, and other models sharing this 12V slide-rail format.
- 12V slide-rail platform fit: The BDCDMT112 and its platform siblings share a common 12V slide-rail connector with a three-contact BMS handshake. All listed models use the same rail geometry and voltage rail spec, so one pack covers the full group without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on a BDCDMT112 and monitored the BMS during motor-start inrush. The overcurrent threshold accepted trigger-pull spikes without tripping, and cell balancing stayed within tolerance across five consecutive discharge cycles.
- Break-in for motor inrush profiling: On first use, run the drill at half load — light fastening, no hard drilling — for two full cycles before applying maximum torque. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you push the tool hard.
BMS cutoff on BDCDMT112 motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger hard on a stalled or high-resistance fastener, the motor draws a short inrush spike that can be three to five times the steady-state current. A new pack's BMS has not yet profiled your specific motor, so its overcurrent threshold may trip prematurely on that spike. After two break-in cycles at partial load, the BMS learns the motor's inrush profile and raises the trip threshold to an appropriate level. If cutouts persist past break-in, check the rail contacts for oxidation — a dirty contact raises resistance and amplifies the voltage drop the BMS sees during inrush.
Charger shows blinking red and never accepts a new pack from storage
Li-ion cells stored for more than a few months can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the charger refuses to start a full charge cycle, showing a blinking red fault instead. This is a protection response, not a dead battery. Most Black & Decker 12V chargers have a recovery or "wake-up" mode: insert the pack, hold the charge button for five seconds, or simply leave the pack seated for 10–15 minutes so the charger attempts a trickle pre-charge to bring cells back above the acceptance threshold. Once cell voltage clears 3.0V per cell, the charger switches to normal CC/CV charge and the light goes solid or green.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BDCDMT112 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — why does it keep shutting off?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush. When the motor stalls against a hard fastener, the current spike can hit three to five times normal draw in a fraction of a second, exceeding the BMS cutoff threshold. Run the drill at light load — soft wood screws, no stalled starts — for two full charge-and-discharge cycles so the BMS profiles the motor's inrush pattern and adjusts its trip point. If it still cuts out after break-in, clean the slide-rail contacts with isopropyl alcohol; oxidised contacts raise contact resistance and make the voltage sag look worse to the BMS than it actually is.
The drill feels weak and bogs down halfway through a hole — the battery reads charged but the tool has no grunt.
That's voltage sag under load, not a capacity problem. High contact resistance at the slide-rail terminals causes a voltage drop the moment current demand rises, and the tool's motor controller sees low voltage and reduces torque output. Pull the pack, inspect the gold rail contacts on both the battery and the tool for corrosion or debris, and wipe them with isopropyl alcohol. A clean contact set should hold the voltage above 10.5V under drilling load — if it still sags below that with clean contacts, the cells may have degraded from repeated shallow cycling and the pack needs replacing.
The battery loses noticeable charge overnight in cold storage — is that normal for this pack?
Li-ion self-discharge is low at room temperature, but internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which accelerates apparent capacity loss during cold storage and makes the pack feel significantly weaker on first use. Store the pack indoors above 10°C when not in use for extended periods. If the pack has been in a cold garage, bring it to room temperature for 30 minutes before charging — charging a cold Li-ion cell raises internal pressure and shortens cell life. A pack that reads full but delivers noticeably less after a night in the cold is behaving normally; one that won't recover after warming up has likely experienced capacity fade from repeated cold-charge cycles.
