Fits BlackBerry Z3 and STJ100-1; replaces OEM part TLp025A2 and FIH435573.
3.8V lithium-polymer cell with 2500mAh capacity delivers 9.5Wh total energy for calls, messaging, and app use.
Connector seats flush into Z3 battery slot with standard polymer latch; no adapters needed.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; voltage curve held steady under modem load.
On first charge after installation, run one complete discharge-to-shutdown cycle before resuming normal use — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's discharge curve and prevents erratic percentage jumps.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlackBerry Z3 / STJ100-1 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp025A2)

This 3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer battery is a direct cell replacement for the BlackBerry Z3 (STJ100-1). It replaces OEM part numbers TLp025A2 and FIH435573. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.

  • Z3 and STJ100-1 platform fit: Both model designations share the same physical cell footprint (73.07 × 54.34 × 4.35mm), connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — this replacement cell slots into either variant without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Z3 unit and confirmed the BMS handshake initialised correctly, charge termination triggered at 4.35V, and the protection circuit tripped as expected on a simulated over-discharge to 2.5V per cell.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the Z3's fuel gauge IC one complete cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve before fast-charge current is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Z3 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Z3 uses a coulomb-counter fuel gauge IC that builds its capacity model from the original cell's discharge curve. Swap the cell and the IC is still reading against that old curve. The result is percentage jumps, premature low-battery warnings, or a meter that reads 40% when the phone shuts down. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown and charge-to-100% cycle resets the IC's reference points against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff failure — not a capacity problem. Under high-current load from the modem or display, the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. It happens most often on cells that haven't completed a full calibration cycle. Run one complete discharge-to-shutdown cycle, then check open-circuit cell voltage; it should read at least 3.7V at the 30% mark after calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BlackBerry Z3 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?

Almost certainly not. A cell that has self-discharged below roughly 2.5V triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit prevents current flow until voltage is recovered. Connect the Z3 to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator appears, the BMS has released and the cell is recovering normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in my Z3 after fitting this battery — what's wrong?

The Z3's charge IC runs a handshake with the BMS on the first cycle to verify cell parameters before enabling high-current charging. On a fresh cell, this negotiation often defaults to standard charge rates until the first cycle completes. Charge once at standard rate to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect — fast charge should re-engage on the second cycle once the IC has confirmed cell integrity.

The Z3 feels warm near the battery while charging after the swap — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected on the first charge cycle. A new Li-Polymer cell starts with relatively high internal impedance, and the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, generating more heat than a broken-in cell would. The warmth should reduce noticeably after two or three full charge cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC cuts out before reaching 100%, check that the replacement cell's connector is fully seated and the contacts are clean.
