Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Blaupunkt BT 202 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)
This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Blaupunkt Bluetooth Lautsprecher range, including the BT 202 and BT 202 BK. It replaces the original INR18650 format cell when the pack no longer holds a useful charge. Fits the standard 18650 cell bay inside these portable wireless speakers.
- BT 202 and BT 202 BK compatibility: Both models share the same single-cell 18650 bay, 3.7V nominal rail, and the same protection circuit layout. Swapping cells between these variants does not require wiring changes — the connector and PCB footprint are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on BT 202 hardware. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcharge cutoff and over-discharge cutoff at the expected thresholds, and the speaker's charge indicator tracked state-of-charge accurately throughout the test.
- Monthly discharge cycle on desk-use speakers: If the speaker sits on a desk and gets topped off before dropping below 50%, fuel gauge drift builds quickly. Run the cell down below 20% at least once a month before recharging to keep the charge indicator calibrated and slow capacity fade on the Li-ion cell.
Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty on the BT 202
As the cell ages and internal resistance climbs, the amplifier stage pulls a current spike at high volume that the cell can no longer sustain cleanly. Voltage sags under that load even when the indicator still shows charge remaining. The amplifier clips under the sag, producing distortion before any low-battery warning fires. Replacing the cell restores the voltage floor — distortion should clear once the new cell holds steady above 3.5V under load.
USB charging not starting after the speaker sat unused for several months
A deeply discharged INR18650 cell can drop below the minimum acceptance voltage that USB-C PD and standard 5V USB chargers will negotiate against. The charger sees the cell as a fault condition and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Some speakers have a trickle pre-charge mode that can recover the cell — connect to a USB port and leave it for 30–60 minutes without expecting the LED to respond immediately. If the cell reads below 2.5V on a multimeter, it has likely passed safe recovery threshold and replacement is the correct next step.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BT 202 shows a full charge but the audio starts cutting in and out after a short time — is that the battery?
Yes — this is a capacity fade symptom, not a charging fault. The cell has lost enough usable capacity that the speaker exhausts it quickly, but the charge indicator hasn't recalibrated to match. The indicator reads the initial resting voltage, which still looks healthy, then voltage drops fast once the amplifier draws current. A new 2600mAh INR18650 cell resets the available capacity and the indicator will track correctly after one full charge-discharge cycle.
Bluetooth keeps dropping at high volume even though the battery is new — what's causing that?
At high volume, the amplifier and the Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously. The combined spike can momentarily sag the cell voltage enough to trigger the radio's brownout reset, dropping the Bluetooth connection even though the battery itself is fine. Check that the replacement cell's protection circuit is rated for the peak draw — the INR18650 cell in these speakers needs to handle burst current without the protection circuit tripping. If drops persist, try the speaker at 70–80% volume to confirm whether the fault is load-related.
The speaker feels noticeably warm through the fabric housing during long play sessions — should I be concerned?
Some warmth is normal — the amplifier and the discharging Li-ion cell both generate heat, and fabric housing traps it. The concern is when the housing becomes hot to hold, not just warm. That level of heat indicates the cell's internal resistance has climbed significantly, meaning more energy is being lost as heat rather than powering audio. Check the cell's resting voltage after a full charge — it should sit at or above 4.1V. If it reads below that, the cell has degraded and should be replaced.
