Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Blaupunkt CC-664 / CC-684 / CC-695 / SC-625 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V 4200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Blaupunkt CC-664, CC-684, CC-695, and SC-625 camcorders. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original and draws from the same voltage rail. Capacity is rated at 4200mAh (25.2Wh) — matching the original specification.

  • CC-664 / CC-684 / CC-695 / SC-625 compatibility: These Blaupunkt camcorder models share the same 6V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell fits all four without adapter or wiring modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge runs on the CC-664 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and voltage delivery held steady through both recording and standby draw.
  • First-use charge cycle on camcorder models: Insert the battery and run a full charge from within the camera body or OEM charger before your first recording session. Ni-MH cells can present a slightly suppressed voltage on initial installation — one full charge cycle from the body lets the BMS calibrate the remaining-charge indicator correctly.

Why the CC-664 battery indicator drops suddenly mid-recording

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than Li-ion. The CC-664's battery indicator is mapped against voltage thresholds tuned to the original cell's curve. A replacement cell — even at full capacity — can cause the indicator to read lower than actual charge during the first few cycles. This is not a fault with the cell. After two or three full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS recalibrates and the indicator tracks accurately. If the drop persists beyond three cycles, check that the terminal voltage under load stays above 5.4V.

Camcorder shows no battery or refuses to power on with new cell installed

Ni-MH cells can arrive from storage at a low resting voltage — sometimes below the BMS acceptance threshold on the CC-664 platform. The body reads the voltage as too low to boot and blocks power-on as a protection measure. Place the battery in the OEM charger externally for 30–60 minutes to bring it above the minimum boot threshold before inserting it into the body. Once the cell reaches approximately 6.0V resting, the camcorder will power on normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Blaupunkt CC-664 powers off mid-recording even though the battery indicator was showing half charge — what's happening?

The CC-664's BMS uses voltage thresholds to estimate remaining charge, and Ni-MH cells sag more sharply under the combined load of the sensor, recording processor, and optical stabilisation than they do at rest. The indicator reads the resting voltage, not the loaded voltage — so the display looks fine until the cell sags below the cutoff under real draw. Run two full charge-discharge cycles to let the BMS remap its thresholds to the new cell's curve. If the problem continues, check that terminal voltage under active recording load stays above 5.4V.

The battery percentage on my CC-664 jumps around erratically — shows 80%, then drops to 20%, then climbs back up. Is the cell faulty?

This is a BMS calibration issue, not a defective cell. Ni-MH discharge curves differ slightly between manufacturers, and the CC-664's indicator algorithm expects the original cell's specific voltage-to-capacity mapping. When the curve doesn't match, the indicator interpolates incorrectly and the percentage reading bounces. Run three complete charge cycles — charge to full, record until the body shuts off, recharge fully — and the BMS will build an accurate profile for the replacement cell. After three cycles the display should stabilise.

My CC-664 records fine indoors but the battery drains noticeably faster when shooting outside in cold weather — normal?

Ni-MH chemistry is more sensitive to temperature than Li-ion. Below about 10°C, internal resistance rises and the usable capacity the cell can deliver before hitting the BMS cutoff voltage drops measurably. This is a chemistry characteristic, not a fault with this cell. Keep the camcorder body close to your body between shots to retain heat, and store the battery at room temperature until just before use — that alone recovers most of the cold-weather capacity loss.
