Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clarke-Tech CT 2013 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HW18650-3S)
This is an 11.1V 2600mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Clarke-Tech CT 2013 handheld survey and diagnostic instrument. It replaces OEM part number HW18650-3S directly. The pack measures 69.40 × 55.20 × 19.50mm and carries a 28.86Wh energy rating.
- CT 2013 platform fit: The CT 2013 uses an 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture with a BMS that monitors cell balance and communicates pack state to the instrument firmware. Any replacement must match this voltage rail and connector pinout exactly — a mismatch at either point prevents the instrument from powering on.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through probe initialisation sequences and sustained sensor logging loads. The BMS held stable across both — no nuisance cutoffs during the current spike at probe power-up and no voltage dropout during extended measurement cycles.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration sequence through the CT 2013 instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes the low-battery warning to trigger prematurely on your first measurement session.
BMS lockout after the CT 2013 sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the CT 2013 was left unused for several months, cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS enters a protective lockout state and will not respond to a normal charge attempt. To recover the pack, connect it to a charger that supports a low-current pre-charge or trickle mode and leave it for 30–60 minutes before attempting a full charge cycle. If cell voltage has dropped below 2.0V per cell, the pack should be replaced rather than recovered.
CT 2013 shuts down instantly when the probe module initialises
Probe and sensor modules draw a sharp inrush current at power-up — often 2–3× the steady-state draw — that lasts only milliseconds but is enough to trip a weakened or cold BMS. A new pack can also trigger this if the BMS has not completed its initialisation handshake with the instrument. Fit the battery, power on the CT 2013 without the probe attached, let it reach the main menu, then connect the probe. This sequence lets the BMS settle at operating voltage before the probe inrush hits. If shutdowns persist after this step, check that the battery contact pins on the instrument are clean and making full contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CT 2013 powers on fine but resets or loses my logged readings partway through a measurement session — is this the battery?
Yes, this points to voltage dropout under sustained sensor load. As the cells age or if a replacement pack has a high internal resistance, voltage sags briefly below the instrument's operating threshold during peak draw, causing a soft reset that wipes unsaved data. We measured this pack's voltage sag under sustained load on the bench and it stayed within the CT 2013's acceptable window. If you see this on a new pack, check that the battery contacts are clean — a resistive connection amplifies sag significantly.
The CT 2013 shows a full battery on the display after fitting the new pack, then drops to low battery within a few minutes of use — what's wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the pack. The CT 2013's battery indicator is calibrated to the discharge curve of its original cells. A new pack with slightly different cell characteristics causes the voltage-threshold indicator to read incorrectly until the instrument has completed at least one full discharge-and-charge cycle. Run the battery down fully through normal use, recharge it completely, and the display percentage will track correctly from the second cycle onward.
The CT 2013 powers on and works normally, but shuts off immediately when I connect it to a PC for USB data transfer — is this a battery fault?
USB data transfer adds a simultaneous draw from the instrument's USB controller on top of active sensor circuits. If the pack is partially discharged, this combined load can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold for a split second, triggering a shutdown. Charge the pack to full before any USB transfer session. If shutdowns still occur at full charge, inspect the USB port on the instrument for debris causing a partial short — that increases draw enough to replicate the fault even with a healthy pack.
