Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo NL40MU / NL41MU Series — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (NL40BAT-3)
This is an 11.4V, 3150mAh (35.91Wh) Li-Polymer battery for Clevo NL40MU, NL40PU, NL41MU, NL41PU, and compatible NL-series notebook models. It replaces OEM part NL40BAT-3 and restores portable operation when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge. Voltage and connector match the original spec exactly.
- NL40 / NL41 platform compatibility: The NL40 and NL41 share the same battery bay dimensions, three-cell 11.4V architecture, and BMS communication protocol. The NL40BAT-3 fits both MU and PU variants without modification because the connector pinout and charge termination handshake are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full-load discharge, and re-charge on an NL40-series unit. The BMS negotiated charge termination correctly at 12.6V, and protection circuits tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff without nuisance shutdowns under sustained CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on Clevo NL-series: After fitting, discharge the laptop under normal use until it hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health or low-capacity warning that appears in BIOS and Windows after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installing NL40BAT-3
The Clevo BIOS reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the battery pack, not from a live capacity measurement. When a new cell arrives, the EEPROM contains factory default values that do not match the laptop's stored wear history from the previous pack. BIOS interprets the mismatch as a degraded or unknown battery and flags it accordingly. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this forces a learn cycle that writes fresh data and clears the health warning.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% shown after battery swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity profile, so the IC underestimates remaining charge and triggers a shutdown before the cell is actually empty. It is not a fault with the replacement battery. Complete two or three full discharge and charge cycles without interruption — after each cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the early shutdown point moves back toward 0%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Windows shows the new NL40BAT-3 battery as 0% or "plugged in, not charging" right after install — what's wrong?
The fuel gauge IC in the NL40-series still holds calibration data from the old, depleted cell and cannot read the new pack correctly until it completes a full cycle. This is an IC calibration issue, not a faulty battery. Discharge the laptop normally until it hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using it. After one complete cycle the percentage reading and charge status will stabilise.
BIOS shows the replacement battery Wh rating as lower than the 35.91Wh printed on the label — is the cell underspeced?
The Wh figure BIOS reads comes from EEPROM data written at the factory, which uses a rated chemistry constant that can differ slightly from the actual cell's measured energy at room temperature. The label value of 35.91Wh is the correct nominal spec for this pack. The BIOS figure will align more closely after the battery completes one full learn cycle — discharge to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.
The NL40MU charges fine but cuts out under heavy CPU load even though the gauge shows 50% or more remaining — what causes that?
Under simultaneous peak CPU and display load, current draw spikes beyond what a partially charged Li-Polymer cell can sustain at that state of charge, and the terminal voltage drops sharply enough to trigger the BMS low-voltage cutoff. The gauge shows 50% because it measures average voltage, not the instantaneous sag under load. Charge to 100% before CPU-intensive sessions to keep terminal voltage above the BMS trip threshold. If it persists at full charge, run a full discharge-to-hibernate cycle to recalibrate the fuel gauge against the actual voltage cliff of the new cell.
