Fits Daitem 318-16D alarm panel; replaces OEM part number BATNIMH4.
12V 4500mAh Ni-MH cell delivers 54Wh backup power to maintain panel operation and siren function during mains failure.
Connector type is hardwired; battery seats into panel cavity with tab lock on left side—orient contacts downward into socket.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack in a 318-16D unit; BMS accepted charge and stabilized float voltage within 36 hours of initial installation.
Do not run a zone test or diagnostics within 24 hours of installation—the panel needs full float charge time before reporting accurate battery level.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Daitem 318-16D — 12V 4500mAh Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BATNIMH4)

This is the backup battery for the Daitem 318-16D alarm system control panel. It sits on continuous float charge and takes over when mains power fails. Rated at 12V and 4500mAh, it matches the OEM BATNIMH4 specification.

  • 318-16D panel compatibility: The 318-16D uses a dedicated Ni-MH pack at this exact voltage and connector pinout. The BMS in the panel monitors charge state continuously — a mismatch in cell count or chemistry trips a fault immediately.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance on a float charger simulating the 318-16D charge circuit. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the pack held voltage under a controlled discharge load.
  • Post-installation float period: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this battery. The panel needs 24–48 hours on float charge before it registers the cell as fully conditioned. Testing before that window will trigger a low-battery report even on a good pack.

Alarm panel showing low battery hours after installing a new cell

Ni-MH packs ship in a partially discharged state. The 318-16D panel measures battery health against an internal voltage threshold — if the cell hasn't reached full float charge, the panel flags it as low regardless of whether the pack is new. This is a charge-state issue, not a faulty battery. Leave the panel powered from mains for 48 hours before drawing any conclusions about the replacement cell.

Alarm losing its programming during a mains outage after battery swap

If the replacement pack hasn't completed its conditioning cycle, it may not deliver enough sustained voltage to hold panel memory under load. The 318-16D requires the backup battery to sit above approximately 11V to maintain RAM and zone configuration. A pack that hasn't been on float charge for at least 48 hours may sag below that threshold the moment mains drops. Let the panel charge the new battery for a full two days before testing it on a simulated outage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 318-16D panel is showing a low battery fault but the new BATNIMH4 was just fitted — is the battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH packs ship partially discharged, and the 318-16D compares battery voltage against a fixed threshold before clearing the fault. The panel needs 24–48 hours on mains power to float-charge the new cell to a level it accepts. Leave it connected to mains and check the fault again after 48 hours.

The siren didn't sound during a test shortly after I replaced the backup battery — what's stopping it?

The 318-16D introduces a short delay on siren output when the backup battery hasn't stabilised. This is a charge-stabilisation hold built into the panel, not a wiring fault. Give the pack a full 30–60 minutes on float charge after fitting before running a test. If the siren still doesn't fire after that window, check the siren tamper loop and zone trigger separately.

The panel is showing a tamper fault right after swapping the battery — I haven't touched any zones.

A tamper fault immediately after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery compartment cover isn't fully closed. The 318-16D monitors the housing tamper switch continuously — even slight misalignment trips the fault. Open the enclosure, press the cover firmly until you hear it seat, and confirm the tamper switch contact is depressed before re-arming.
