Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic GM4100 / GM4400 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RBP-4000)
This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original RBP-4000 pack in Datalogic GM4100, GM4130, GM4400, and GM4430 handheld barcode scanners. These scanners run in retail checkout lanes, warehouse pick lines, and logistics intake stations where a dead battery stops operations cold. Voltage and connector match the OEM spec — no modifications needed.
- GM4100 / GM4400 platform fit: Both scanner families share the same battery bay geometry, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers all four models because Datalogic kept the power architecture consistent across the GM4000 range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts combined with wireless polling load. The onboard BMS held the voltage rail steady and did not trip on the inrush current spikes that occur during rapid scan sequences.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack lines: Before sending a freshly installed pack onto the floor, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when cell voltage is near minimum — a fully charged cell stops false BMS cutoffs from killing the first shift early.
Cradle charging error on a brand-new pack
GM4100-series docks use spring-loaded contacts that oxidise quickly in dusty warehouse environments. When contact resistance climbs above the dock's threshold, the charger reports a fault even though the pack itself is fine. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not a faulty cell.
Scanner drops wireless connection mid-scan burst
During a rapid scan burst, the imager draw and the Bluetooth or 802.11 radio transmit pulse hit simultaneously — combined current can sag the cell voltage below the radio module's minimum threshold. The radio drops the link before the BMS trips, so the scanner goes silent but does not power off. This happens most often when the cell is below 30% charge. Recharge to full and monitor whether the drops stop — if they continue at full charge, the dock contacts may be limiting charge acceptance and the cell never reaches a true full-charge state.

Frequently Asked Questions
The GM4100 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — is the battery dead?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire — if the pack ships at storage charge (around 3.6V), the imager draw can pull the cell just below that threshold on the first trigger press. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge fully before use. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the imager fires cleanly on every press.
The cradle shows a charging fault light with the new pack but charged the old battery fine — what's wrong?
Dock contacts in high-throughput scan environments accumulate dust and oxidation fast, and the GM4100 cradle is sensitive to contact resistance above a few ohms. Wipe the three gold pads on the battery and the matching pins inside the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth. Reseat the scanner and press it down until it clicks. If the fault light clears within 30 seconds, dirty contacts were the cause.
The scanner gets noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that normal or a sign the battery is failing?
Sustained combined load — imager firing plus wireless radio transmitting — generates heat inside a sealed housing, and some warmth after extended shifts is expected. What is not normal is the housing becoming hot to the touch or the scanner throttling scan speed. If surface temperature feels uncomfortable to hold, check that the scan frequency is not set higher than the application needs, and give the unit a 10-minute rest period between heavy pick sessions to let the cell temperature drop back below 40°C.
