Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Vostro 1310 / 1510 / 1320 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (312-0724)
This 11.1V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dell Vostro 1310, 1510, 2510, and 1320 series notebooks. It matches OEM part numbers 312-0724, 312-0725, N950C, T116C, and related references. Physical dimensions are 221.80 × 71.80 × 20.80mm — same form factor as the factory pack.
- Vostro 1310 / 1510 / 2510 / 1320 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 11.1V three-cell voltage rail, and Dell SMBus connector pinout. One cell fits all four without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Vostro 1310 and verified the BMS handshake completed on first insertion — the system recognised the pack, reported Wh capacity, and allowed charging without a manual override.
- First-cycle reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run the notebook down to hibernate-cutoff on battery alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears on most Dell systems after a cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
Dell's BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data stored on the battery controller, not from a live cell measurement. When you fit a replacement pack, the BIOS compares the new cell's reported cycle count and charge history against its internal threshold — and flags it as degraded before a single charge cycle runs. This is not a fault with the cell. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the learn cycle and allows the BIOS to recalibrate against actual cell performance.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. On first use, the IC uses the old cell's data to predict remaining capacity — and misjudges the voltage cliff where the cell can no longer sustain load under combined CPU and display draw. The system shuts down to protect itself, even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. Run two to three full discharge and charge cycles; the IC maps the new cell's curve and the gauge reading stabilises. After calibration, shutdown should not occur above 5–8V terminal voltage at the pack connector.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Vostro 1310 shows the replacement battery Wh rating as lower than what the pack is rated for — is the cell wrong?
The Wh figure shown in Windows or Dell's battery report is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery controller, which stores the manufacturer's rated capacity at cell level. The actual usable Wh from a 6600mAh, 11.1V pack works out to 73.26Wh, but some EEPROM versions report a conservative rated value that sits lower. Run the battery through one full discharge-to-hibernate and charge cycle — after that cycle, Windows re-reads the full-charge capacity from the live fuel gauge rather than the static EEPROM value, and the reported Wh figure corrects itself.
Charge stopped at 80% and won't go higher — the Vostro just sits plugged in with no further charging activity.
Dell's firmware on several Vostro BIOS versions includes a charge-limit mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear during long periods on AC power. Check the Dell Power Manager utility or BIOS under the Power settings — look for "Primary AC Use" or "Primarily AC" battery mode and switch it to "Adaptive" or "Standard." Once switched, unplug and reconnect the adapter; charging will resume and the cell will reach 100%.
Windows fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes on the Vostro 1510.
The fuel gauge IC on this platform uses coulomb counting calibrated against the previous cell's charge curve. After a cell swap, the IC has no accurate reference and reads voltage spikes from the new cell as large capacity swings. This settles after two to three complete discharge-and-charge cycles as the IC maps the actual voltage-to-capacity curve of the new cell. Do not top up or interrupt charging during these calibration cycles — let each one run fully from hibernate-cutoff to 100%.
