Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dopod 828 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PM16A)

This is a 3.7V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Dopod 828 smartphone. It replaces OEM part numbers PM16A, 35H-00051-03M, and 35H00051-00. If the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, this is the direct cell swap.

  • Dopod 828 fitment: The 828 uses a fixed connector and a BMS handshake tied to the 3.7V Li-Polymer cell format. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the phone's charge IC communicates with the new cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge using a load tester matched to the 828's draw profile. The BMS engaged cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold and accepted a full charge without triggering over-voltage protection.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installing this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The 828's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets it to the new cell's actual capacity curve.

Why the Dopod 828 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The 828 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model from the previous cell's charge and discharge history. Swap in a new cell and that model is immediately out of sync — the IC is still referencing an old discharge curve with different internal resistance and capacity characteristics. This causes the percentage to read high early in discharge and then drop suddenly in the lower range. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Dopod 828

This is a voltage cliff symptom, not a capacity problem. When the modem transmits or the screen backlight peaks, current draw spikes sharply — and an aged or uncalibrated cell cannot hold its voltage above the 3.2V cutoff threshold under that load. The BMS reads an undervoltage condition and shuts the phone down even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. After the recalibration cycle described above, the fuel gauge IC maps the actual usable voltage window of the new cell and shutdown at 20–30% stops occurring.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dopod 828 powered off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

Almost certainly not faulty — this is a voltage cliff under load. When the modem transmits or the display peaks, current draw spikes and the new cell's voltage briefly dips below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering shutdown even though the gauge shows charge left. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle lets the fuel gauge IC remap the new cell's actual discharge curve and the premature shutdowns stop.

The Dopod 828 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — how do I recover it?

Extended storage can push the cell below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The BMS will refuse to pass current until the cell voltage is nudged above the recovery threshold. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 30 to 60 minutes without attempting to power it on. Once the cell climbs above approximately 3.0V, the BMS releases lockout and the phone will boot normally.

The battery percentage on my Dopod 828 is jumping around erratically — 60%, then 45%, then 55% — right after the swap.

That erratic behaviour is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating in real time against a cell it has no history for. The coulomb counter is using the old cell's internal resistance model, which no longer matches the new cell, so percentage estimates swing as load and temperature shift. Do not top up or interrupt the charge — run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% in a single session. After that cycle the IC locks onto the new cell's curve and percentage readings stabilise.
