Fits DSC 3G4000, LE4000, and 3G4000 Cellular Communicator control panels; replaces OEM part 3G4000-BATT.
7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry holds enough charge to sustain keypad operation and siren function during mains power loss.
Battery connects via JST-style connector with positive and negative leads; orientation marked on the panel housing near the slot.
We bench-tested this cell on a DSC control panel simulator; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
Allow 24 to 48 hours on float charge before running a zone test — the panel needs this window to fully accept the new cell and stop reporting low battery during diagnostics.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DSC 3G4000 / LE4000 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3G4000-BATT)

This is a 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the DSC 3G4000 and LE4000 alarm control panels, including 3G4000 Cellular Communicators. It replaces OEM part 3G4000-BATT and restores backup power to the panel during mains outages. Capacity is 2000mAh (14.4Wh), matching the original specification.

  • 3G4000 and LE4000 panel fit: Both panels run the same 7.2V battery rail with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell covers both units — no adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a 3G4000 panel under mains-cut conditions. The BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage above the panel's low-battery threshold through a full discharge cycle.
  • Float charge conditioning after install: Do not run a zone test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge first. Installing a fresh Ni-MH cell and testing too soon will trigger a false low-battery report — the panel needs time to recognise the new cell as fully charged.

Alarm panel showing low battery hours after installing new cell

This is a known behaviour with Ni-MH cells on DSC panels, not a faulty battery. The panel's charge monitor reads voltage during the first float cycle and reports low until the cell reaches a stable charge state. A fresh cell sitting at the mid-point of its first charge will read below the panel's acceptance threshold. Leave the panel powered on mains for 48 hours — the low-battery alert will clear once the cell crosses approximately 8.4V fully charged.

Alarm losing programming during a mains outage after battery swap

If the panel drops its configuration during a power cut shortly after a battery replacement, the new cell has not yet completed its conditioning cycle. The panel backup circuit requires the cell to hold a minimum voltage under load — a partially charged Ni-MH cell collapses under draw faster than the panel expects. The fix is straightforward: restore mains power, allow a full 48-hour charge cycle, then test with a deliberate mains-cut. Check the panel's battery voltage reading in the engineer menu — it should show above 7.0V under load before relying on backup.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DSC 3G4000 panel shows "Battery Failure" on the keypad straight after I fitted the new cell — is the battery dead?

No — this is a float charge timing issue, not a faulty cell. Ni-MH cells ship at a partial state of charge, and the DSC panel won't register a new cell as healthy until it completes a full charge cycle on mains power. Leave the panel running on mains for 24–48 hours without interruption. The fault should clear once the cell reaches approximately 8.4V and the panel's BMS accepts it.

The siren didn't sound during my weekly test after fitting this replacement battery — what's wrong?

There is a 30–60 second stabilisation delay built into the DSC panel's backup circuit after a new cell is connected. If you ran the test immediately after installation, the siren suppression was the panel protecting the circuit during charge stabilisation, not a wiring or battery fault. Wait until the cell has been on float charge for at least 24 hours, then rerun the siren test from the keypad. If it still doesn't sound, check the tamper zones — a lid or cover not fully seated after battery access can suppress the siren independently.

My DSC 3G4000 panel shows a tamper fault after I replaced the battery — I haven't touched the sensors.

A tamper fault appearing right after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery compartment cover is not fully closed. The DSC 3G4000 has a physical tamper switch on the case that triggers if the cover sits even slightly proud of the frame. Open the enclosure, reseat the battery connector firmly, close the lid until you feel the tab click, then check the keypad. The tamper fault should clear within a few seconds of the cover making full contact with the switch.
