Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Simplicity V27 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V27)
This 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original AK-V27 cell in the Emporia Simplicity (V27) mobile phone. It fits directly into the battery compartment and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge circuit as the factory unit. Capacity matches the OEM specification at 1050mAh (3.89Wh).
- Simplicity V27 fitment: The V27 uses a compact 66.45 × 42.13 × 4.05mm cell tied to a fuel gauge IC that reads cell impedance on each charge cycle. A physically mismatched or wrong-voltage cell triggers charge IC errors — this cell matches the OEM dimensions and voltage rail exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on the V27 charge IC and monitored BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and cutoff voltage. The cell accepted charge without error flags and reached full cutoff voltage within expected parameters.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before locking in percentage readings — skipping this step causes erratic percentage jumps for the first several cycles.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Emporia Simplicity after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When the phone hits a load spike — screen backlight, a call connecting, or a network search — the new cell's voltage drops below what the IC expects at that state of charge. The phone interprets the sag as a critical low-voltage event and shuts down even though the cell still has usable capacity. Run one full discharge to the automatic power-off point, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the coulomb counter to reset against the real cell curve.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into this higher-impedance load, and the additional resistive heating is normal for the first three to five cycles. If the phone feels uncomfortably hot or charging stops early, check that no fast-charge adapter is in use — the V27 charge IC is rated for standard 5V input. Warmth should reduce noticeably after the cell's impedance settles, typically by the third full cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Emporia Simplicity shuts off at around 25% battery — is that a fault with the replacement cell?
No — it's the fuel gauge IC reading the wrong voltage curve. The IC was calibrated to your original cell and doesn't yet know where the new cell's voltage cliff sits under load. Run the phone down until it powers off on its own, then charge it fully to 100% without interruption. That single complete cycle resets the coulomb counter and the shutdowns stop.
After fitting the AK-V27, the battery percentage jumps around — it showed 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge profile. Until it has at least one full discharge-to-charge reference cycle, the percentage readings are unstable. Let the phone discharge to auto-off, charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session, and the IC locks in a stable curve — erratic readings resolve after that cycle completes.
The Emporia Simplicity won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.
If the cell self-discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS has locked out to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charge IC applies a slow pre-charge trickle to bring the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage rises above 3.0V, the BMS releases and normal charging resumes.
