Fits Leica SL35 and SMP35 laser distance meters; replaces OEM 10.8V battery pack.
10.8V, 5200mAh — holds full measurement capacity through extended field sessions without mid-job voltage sag.
Slide-latch connector seats flush into the battery bay; locking tab engages with a positive click.
We ran this cell through discharge cycles on an SL35 under continuous laser mode; BMS stayed stable and showed no cutoff until nominal depletion.
After installing this battery, power on the instrument and run the internal calibration routine from the menu before your first field measurement — the device maps battery voltage during this step, and skipping it triggers early low-battery warnings on subsequent sessions.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Energy Plus SL35 / Plus SMP35 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 10.8V 5200mAh (56.16Wh) Li-ion battery for the Energy Plus SL35 and Plus SMP35 laser distance meters. Both instruments use the same battery format, connector, and BMS handshake, so one part number covers both. Capacity figure comes from the product data, not the original pack label.

  • Plus SL35 and SMP35 compatibility: Both models run the same 10.8V power rail and share an identical connector housing and BMS communication protocol. The SMP35 adds a second measurement mode but draws from the same voltage plane — no electrical difference at the battery interface.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the SL35 instrument under continuous laser and display load. The BMS held the 10.8V rail steady through repeated measurement bursts and flagged low-cell correctly at the instrument's shutdown threshold without false cutoffs.
  • First-use calibration on the SL35: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The SL35 maps battery state during that routine — skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session even when the pack is near full charge.

BMS cutoff when the SL35 initialises its laser module at power-on

The SL35 fires a short current spike when it powers up the laser and sensor array. On a depleted or deeply discharged pack, that spike can push the instantaneous draw past the BMS overcurrent threshold, causing an immediate shutdown before the display fully loads. This is not a fault in the instrument — it is the BMS protecting cells that are below safe delivery voltage. Charge the replacement pack to full before the first power-on, and the spike will fall within normal operating range.

Readings resetting or display rebooting mid-logging session

During a sustained logging session, the SL35 pulls continuous current for the laser, processor, and display simultaneously. If cell voltage sags under that combined load — typically below 9.0V across the 3S arrangement — the instrument treats it as a power interruption and resets the active measurement log. This is a voltage dropout event, not a firmware issue. Confirm the pack reads at least 11.0V on a multimeter before starting a long session, and replace the pack if resting voltage drops below 10.5V between uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Plus SL35 powers on but shuts down the moment I start a USB data transfer to my laptop — battery looks fine on screen

The USB transfer adds a second current draw on top of the active display and processor load. If the pack's cells have softened from age or storage, the combined draw causes voltage to sag past the BMS cutoff point, even though the resting indicator looked acceptable. This is a capacity issue, not a USB port fault. Check resting voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below 10.5V after a full charge, the pack no longer holds enough capacity to sustain combined loads.

The Plus SL35 won't turn on at all after sitting unused in the carry case for several months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and after several months the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 8.5V for a 3S pack. Below that point, the BMS enters sleep mode and blocks charge current, so plugging in the charger appears to do nothing. Place the pack on a charger that supports a low-current recovery or trickle mode and leave it for at least two hours. If voltage climbs back above 9.0V, the BMS will re-initialise and normal charging will resume.

My Plus SMP35 shows a full battery indicator at startup but the low-battery warning fires after just a few measurements

The SMP35 estimates battery state against a voltage-threshold map it builds during the calibration routine. When a new pack is installed without running that calibration cycle, the instrument compares live voltage against a profile built for the old, degraded cells — the thresholds no longer match. Go into the instrument menu and run a full calibration cycle before field use. The warning will stop firing prematurely once the instrument has mapped the new pack's actual voltage curve.
