Fits Eschenbach Visolux Digital HD magnifier; replaces OEM part number 3200-1B.
3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion cell delivers stable voltage for display and magnification circuits throughout charge cycles.
Cylindrical 18650-format cell; slides into vertical slot with positive terminal facing outward; locking tab seats flush.
Bench testing confirmed BMS accepts full 4.2V charge gate without cutoff errors; discharge curve remains flat across typical use.
Run the Visolux at 50% screen brightness during the first full charge cycle — high brightness draws peak current that can confuse the battery indicator immediately after a cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eschenbach Visolux Digital HD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3200-1B)

This 3.7V Li-ion cell replaces part number 3200-1B in the Eschenbach Visolux Digital HD electronic magnifier. Capacity is 3400mAh (12.58Wh). The Visolux Digital HD is a portable video magnifier used daily by people with low vision for reading, handwriting, and close detail tasks.

  • Visolux Digital HD fit: The 3200-1B cell powers both the digital display driver and the backlight circuit from a single 3.7V rail. The BMS on this device monitors cell voltage tightly because the display controller requires stable input — a worn cell causes screen instability before the battery indicator shows low.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Visolux Digital HD's charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, the charge circuit reached full termination voltage cleanly, and the display held stable across brightness levels.
  • First-cycle brightness setting: Run the device at 50% screen brightness during the first full charge cycle after fitting this cell. High brightness draws extra current from the backlight circuit, which can misread the new cell's state of charge and skew the battery indicator calibration on that first cycle.

Why the Visolux Digital HD screen flickers on a new battery

Flickering on a freshly fitted cell usually points to a state-of-charge mismatch, not a faulty battery. The display driver on the Visolux Digital HD samples cell voltage to regulate backlight power. If the BMS hasn't completed its first full calibration cycle, it may report an unstable voltage window and cause the backlight to pulse. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle at moderate brightness to let the BMS settle its voltage reference. Flickering that persists after two full cycles indicates a connector seating issue — reseat the cell and confirm the contacts are clean.

Image colour shifting before the battery indicator drops

Colour shift — whites turning yellow or contrast flattening — typically appears when cell voltage sags under backlight load before the battery gauge registers low. The Visolux Digital HD's display driver is voltage-sensitive: at maximum brightness, the backlight circuit draws enough current to pull cell voltage below the display's colour-stable threshold while the fuel gauge still reads partial charge. This is not a defective cell — it is the display responding to transient voltage sag. Drop screen brightness one step and the colour will stabilise. If colour shift starts above 3.5V under load, the cell contacts may need cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Visolux Digital HD won't charge — the indicator light doesn't come on at all after fitting the new battery. What's wrong?

The USB charging circuit on the Visolux Digital HD requires a minimum input voltage to initialise — a low-output USB port or a long, thin cable can drop below that threshold and prevent the charge cycle from starting. Use the original Eschenbach charger or a USB source rated at 5V/1A or higher. If the indicator still doesn't light, remove and reseat the battery to confirm the BMS has reset, then reconnect the charger. The charge light should appear within 10 seconds of a clean connection.

The battery drains noticeably faster when I use the Visolux Digital HD at full brightness. Is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell — the backlight is the dominant current draw on the Visolux Digital HD, and at maximum brightness it pulls significantly more from the 3400mAh cell than at mid-range settings. This is normal Li-ion behaviour under variable load. Reducing brightness by one or two steps cuts backlight current substantially and extends use between charges. If drain at mid-brightness still seems excessive after two full charge cycles, check that the cell contacts are fully seated and free of oxidation.

The battery indicator on my Visolux Digital HD jumped from half-charge to empty with no warning. Why does this happen?

A sudden drop from mid-charge to empty is a BMS calibration issue, not a failed cell. When a new cell is fitted, the fuel gauge has no learned model of the cell's discharge curve and can miscalculate the remaining capacity. One complete charge-to-discharge cycle — fully charged down to automatic cutoff — teaches the BMS the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. After that first full cycle, the gauge steps down gradually as expected. If the jump from mid-charge to cutoff repeats after three full cycles, measure the resting cell voltage after a full charge — it should read 4.18–4.20V.
