Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Festool CCD12 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP12C)
This is a 12V, 3300mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Festool CCD12 range of cordless drill/drivers. It fits the CCD12, CCD12v, CCD12ES, and CCD12ES-C among others. Direct swap for original packs that have degraded or failed.
- CCD12 platform fit: The CCD12 series shares a common 12V battery rail and connector housing across variants. Each model uses the same BMS handshake protocol, so this pack communicates correctly with the tool's electronics without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated trigger-pull cycles on a CCD12ES and monitored the BMS under load. The overcurrent threshold held correctly on motor start inrush without nuisance trips.
- Break-in load cycling: Run the drill at half load for the first two cycles before applying full torque. Ni-MH cells build charge capacity gradually — light cycling first allows the BMS to profile the motor's inrush draw before setting its overcurrent protection thresholds.
BMS overcurrent trip on motor-start inrush in the CCD12
When you pull the trigger on a stalled fastener or a large-diameter bit, the CCD12 motor draws a current spike well above its running load. A new or cold pack with a freshly reset BMS may interpret that spike as a fault and cut output momentarily. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS acting on a threshold it has not yet profiled against this motor. Two or three full load cycles teach the BMS the motor's normal inrush signature and the trips stop.
Charger not recognising the pack after extended storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack voltage drops below roughly 10.8V the charger may refuse to begin a charge cycle — showing no indication or a fault light. The fix is a trickle pre-charge: some Festool chargers include a recovery mode; if yours does not, a compatible universal charger set to 100–200mA can bring the pack above the acceptance threshold. Once cell voltage recovers above 11V, swap back to the standard charger and complete a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CCD12 cuts out the moment I drive a screw into hardwood — battery seems fine otherwise. What's happening?
That cutout is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush — the spike when a bit bites into dense material briefly exceeds the BMS protection threshold. It is most common on new packs that have not yet profiled the motor's load signature. Run two full light-duty cycles first: drilling soft material or driving short screws. After that the BMS calibrates its threshold to the motor's normal inrush and the cutouts stop.
The drill bogs and slows badly under sustained load even though the battery charged fully. Is this a weak cell?
That symptom is voltage sag under load, not necessarily a dead cell. On Ni-MH packs, elevated contact resistance at the battery rail or worn terminal contacts causes the voltage to drop mid-draw, and the tool's electronics throttle output to compensate. Clean the battery contact pads and the tool's terminal block with isopropyl alcohol, then check the rail seating. If sag continues after cleaning, check cell balance — a single weak cell in the pack pulls rail voltage down to roughly 10V under load while the pack reads full at rest.
The pack sat unused for about six months and now the charger won't respond to it at all — no lights, nothing.
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day, so six months of storage can drop the pack below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage. Most Festool chargers will not initiate a charge cycle below approximately 10.8V. Use a universal charger set to a trickle rate of 100–200mA to bring the pack above that threshold — typically 15 to 30 minutes of trickle is enough. Once the pack reads above 11V, return it to the standard Festool charger and complete a full charge cycle normally.
