Fits Fieldpiece SRL2 and SRL8 leak detectors; replaces OEM part number RLB2.
3.7V, 1800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the charge density needed for sustained probe operation during refrigerant detection cycles.
Cylindrical cell seats into the SRL2 battery compartment with flat positive terminal oriented toward the spring contact.
We bench-tested this pack in the SRL2 measurement mode; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no initialization delay.
After installing, run the instrument's self-test function before field deployment — the probe initialization current spike can trigger false low-battery warnings if the BMS has not established baseline voltage under load.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fieldpiece SRL2 / SRL8 Leak Detectors — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RLB2)

This 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM RLB2 pack in Fieldpiece SRL2 and SRL8 refrigerant leak detectors. It fits the same battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake used across the SRL series. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • SRL2 and SRL8 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V cell platform, share the same physical connector, and use the same BMS communication protocol — one pack covers the full SRL series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the SRL2's sensor warm-up sequence, which pulls a short current spike as the heated diode element reaches operating temperature. The BMS held the rail steady without tripping into protection mode.
  • First-use calibration on the SRL2: After fitting the new pack, run a full power cycle and let the detector complete its warm-up sequence before deploying to a job site. The SRL2 maps battery state during that initialisation window — skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to trigger early on the first session, even with a full charge.

BMS cutoff during sensor element warm-up on the SRL2

The SRL2's heated diode sensor draws a sharp current spike in the first few seconds after power-on, as the element ramps to its detection temperature. A degraded or deeply discharged cell can't sustain that surge, so the BMS trips into protection mode and the unit shuts off before the ready indicator lights. This replacement pack uses cells rated to handle the warm-up inrush without dropping below the BMS cutoff threshold. If the unit still shuts off at power-on after fitting a new pack, check that the cell voltage reads at least 3.6V before first charge.

SRL8 powering on but shutting down during USB data transfer

The SRL8 combines active sensor load with USB enumeration current when transferring logs to a PC — total draw at that moment is higher than during normal scanning. If the cell voltage is already low or the pack has aged, that combined draw causes a voltage sag the BMS reads as an undervoltage fault, cutting power mid-transfer. The fix is straightforward: charge the pack fully before any data session, and verify the cell sits above 3.7V before connecting the USB cable. A pack that sags under this combined load is indicating it needs replacement, not a software fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SRL2 won't power on after sitting unused in my tool bag for a few months — new battery still won't wake it up?

A pack that's been sitting below roughly 2.5V goes into a deep-discharge sleep state where the BMS stops responding to the charger entirely. Connect the replacement pack to the SRL2's charger and leave it for at least 30–40 minutes before pressing the power button — the BMS needs time to trickle back above its recovery threshold before it will accept a normal charge cycle. If the charge LED doesn't light within the first few minutes, disconnect, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect to re-trigger the charger's wake-up handshake. Once the cell climbs above 3.0V, normal charging resumes and the unit powers on as expected.

My SRL2 shows a full battery on the display but resets the indicator to half-charge after I restart it — is the new pack faulty?

The SRL2's charge indicator recalibrates its voltage thresholds to the new cell during the first few full charge-discharge cycles. Until that recalibration completes, the display can show inconsistent percentages across reboots — this is a firmware behaviour, not a pack defect. Run two or three complete charge cycles from flat to full without interrupting them, and the indicator stabilises. After the third cycle the display should read consistently against actual cell voltage.

Readings on the SRL8 drift and then reset during a long leak survey — what's happening?

Sustained sensor operation over an extended survey pulls a continuous load that gradually drags cell voltage down. When voltage sags past the SRL8's internal threshold, the sensor circuit momentarily drops power and resets its baseline — you see this as a reading drift followed by a sudden zero reset mid-session. A new pack at full charge holds the voltage rail stable long enough to complete a standard survey without dropout. Charge to 4.2V (green charge LED on the SRL8 cradle) before any multi-zone survey session to eliminate mid-session resets.
