Fits Fresenius MCM500 and MCM500D infusion pumps; replaces OEM part 120050 and BATT/110050.
6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable output for portable pump operation between AC charging cycles.
Connector seats into the battery slot with positive and negative terminals aligned; locking tab secures pack firmly.
We charged this cell through five full cycles on bench; BMS accepted the pack without fault codes after cycle two.
After installation, allow the pump to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices verify battery handshake at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false low-battery alarm that clears only after a full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fresenius MCM500 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (120050)

This is a 6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Fresenius MCM500 and MCM500D volumetric infusion pumps. It matches OEM part numbers 120050 and BATT/110050. The battery supports portable operation when the pump is disconnected from AC power in hospital and clinical environments.

  • MCM500 and MCM500D compatibility: Both models share the same 6V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell format — 112.00 × 44.20 × 22.70mm — fits both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge on the MCM500 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, completed its verification cycle, and reported charge status accurately across the full capacity range.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the pump to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The MCM500 runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window creates a false battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot.

MCM500 low-battery alarm triggering on a freshly charged replacement

The MCM500's BMS applies a charge acceptance threshold calibrated to a conditioned cell. A new Ni-MH cell has not yet established its full electrochemical capacity profile, so the BMS reads available charge conservatively. This causes the pump to alarm low battery even when the cell is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle allows the BMS to recalibrate its thresholds to the actual cell capacity. Run this conditioning cycle before placing the battery in clinical rotation.

Pump will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A cell stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 4.8V for a 6V pack — causing the pump to refuse to boot entirely. Connect the pump to AC power first and allow a trickle pre-charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting a standalone boot. Once the cell climbs above the BMS recovery floor, the pump will initialise normally and continue charging to full capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MCM500 alarms low battery within minutes of fitting a fully charged replacement — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The MCM500's BMS sets its charge-acceptance threshold against a conditioned cell, and a new Ni-MH pack hasn't completed the electrochemical cycling needed to register full capacity accurately. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the pump before clinical use. After that single cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the low-battery alarm clears.

The pump shuts off unexpectedly during an infusion run — the battery was showing adequate charge before it started.

The MCM500's load profile during active infusion draws significantly harder than during standby, and new Ni-MH cells show higher internal resistance in their first 10 cycles. That resistance causes a voltage sag under load that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff, even when resting voltage looked acceptable. Condition the cell through at least five full charge-discharge cycles before using it in an active infusion context. Check resting voltage after charging — it should read at or above 7.2V before use.

The charge indicator on the MCM500 won't reach 100% on the first charge — is the charger or the battery the problem?

This is the charge IC applying a conservative limit on an unconditioned cell, not a fault in either component. Ni-MH charge controllers use delta-V detection to determine full charge, and a new cell's voltage curve is flatter than a cycled one, causing the controller to terminate early. The battery is not undercharged — it has simply not yet established the voltage signature the controller expects. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle and the charge IC will track accurately to 100% on subsequent charges.
