Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fromm P318 / P326 / P327 / P328 Series — 18V Li-ion 3000mAh Replacement Battery
This is an 18V 3000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Fromm P318, P326, P327, and P328 cordless strapping tools. It slots into the same battery bay and runs on the same 18V rail as the original pack. Capacity is 3000mAh (54Wh) — pulled directly from the product spec, not estimated.
- P318 / P326 / P327 / P328 platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell pack covers the full range. Swapping across models in this series does not require re-pairing or charger changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the P318 platform. The BMS logged cell balance correctly on the first cycle and held the 18V rail steady through repeated trigger pulls without a false overcurrent trip.
- Break-in protocol for strapping tool use: On first use, run the tool at partial tension cycles before applying maximum strap tension — this lets the BMS profile the motor inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds before you hit peak load. Skipping this step can cause nuisance cutoffs on the first full-tension job.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush during strap tensioning
Strapping tools pull a sharp current spike the moment the motor engages — higher than steady-state draw. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor's inrush signature, it can read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut the pack. This is not a cell failure. The BMS is tripping on a threshold it set without enough data. Running two or three partial-load cycles recalibrates that threshold, and the cutoffs stop.
Charger shows blinking red on a new pack that has been in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If a pack sits long enough, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the charger refuses to enter CC/CV charge mode, flashing a fault instead. This is recoverable. Most Fromm-compatible chargers have a trickle or recovery mode: hold the charge button for five seconds or disconnect and reconnect the pack three times to force the charger into recovery mode. Once cell voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell, normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Fromm P318 cuts out the moment I pull the trigger on a tight strap — why does it keep tripping?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current, not a faulty battery. The spike when the tensioning motor engages can exceed the BMS's overcurrent threshold, especially on a new or recently stored pack. Run two or three partial-tension cycles first to let the BMS profile the motor's inrush draw and adjust its cutoff threshold. After that, full-tension pulls should complete without tripping.
The tool feels weak and bogs down mid-strap — battery reads charged but performance drops under load.
That's voltage sag — the 18V rail drops under motor load because of resistance at the battery contacts or degraded cell capacity. Start by cleaning the battery bay contacts on both the tool and the pack with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol — oxidised contacts are the most common cause on tools used in warehouse environments. If the pack still sags after cleaning, measure open-circuit voltage: a healthy 18V Li-ion pack at full charge should read between 20V and 20.5V; anything below 19V indicates significant capacity fade.
The P318 works fine in a warm workshop but cuts out constantly in a cold loading dock — is the battery faulty?
It's not faulty — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which increases voltage sag and can push the BMS into a low-voltage cutoff even on a fully charged pack. Store the battery at room temperature before heading into a cold environment and swap it back to a warm pack if cutouts persist. If you must work in sustained cold, keep a second pack in an inside pocket and rotate every few tensioning cycles to maintain cell temperature above 5°C.
