Fits Funkwerk FC1 and FC4 cordless phone handsets, replaces OEM battery.
Voltage 2.4V and capacity 600mAh restores full talk time and standby duration on this DECT handset.
Connector slides onto two metal contact pins on the handset battery door with no locking tab required.
We bench tested the pack on a Funkwerk base station — BMS accepted charge within 2 hours and voltage held steady under transmit load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Funkwerk FC1 / FC4 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Funkwerk FC1 and FC4 cordless DECT handsets. It fits directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the phone without replacing the entire unit. Capacity figure is taken from product data: 600mAh (1.44Wh).

  • FC1 and FC4 compatibility: Both models use the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack with matching physical dimensions (35.80 × 33.50 × 7.00mm) and connector orientation. The base station charges through a contact pad that supplies a fixed trickle current matched to this chemistry and voltage — no pairing or BMS handshake required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a cordless phone base station simulator set to standard Ni-MH trickle charge. Voltage rose steadily across the first three cycles with no thermal spike, and the cell reached rated capacity by cycle four without triggering any overtemperature cutoff.
  • First charge on a new Ni-MH cordless pack: Place the handset in the base station for a full 16 hours before the first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in storage discharge to a reduced state. A full slow charge on the first cycle sets the chemical baseline — skipping this cuts into the capacity the battery can deliver from that point forward.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells leave storage partially discharged and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. On the first cycle, available capacity can be 20–30% below the 600mAh spec. Each subsequent full cycle conditions the electrolyte and recovers capacity. Run the handset until it drops to low-battery indication, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle five, capacity stabilises at rated output.

Base station not registering a charge on a freshly installed pack

Cordless phone bases use a voltage-detect circuit to confirm a battery is present before initiating the charge cycle. A Ni-MH pack that has been in storage for several months can drop below the detection threshold — typically around 2.0V for a 2.4V pack. The base sees this as an open circuit rather than a discharged battery and shows no charge activity or an error light. To recover it, briefly connect the pack to a Ni-MH charger at a low rate (50–100mA) for 15–20 minutes to bring voltage above 2.2V, then reseat the handset in the base and the charge cycle should initiate normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Funkwerk FC1 handset keeps losing range after I put in the new battery — is the battery the problem?

Range loss on DECT handsets is almost always a voltage sag issue under RF load. When the handset transmits, the draw spikes sharply, and a Ni-MH pack that hasn't been fully conditioned can't hold voltage steady — the transmit power drops and range shrinks. This is common in the first few cycles before the cells are conditioned. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and check range again; a fully conditioned 600mAh pack at 2.4V should hold the transmit voltage without sag.

My FC1 lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones clear the pairing record when the handset loses power completely, which happens during a battery swap. This isn't a battery fault — it's the handset losing its stored DECT sync data. You need to re-register the handset to the base: on most Funkwerk DECT bases, press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the LED flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset menu under "Register handset" or "Find base."

My FC4 battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to a contact seating issue rather than a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully seated, the base charge contacts don't make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery in standby mode instead of drawing from the base. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the cradle and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of oxidation. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates within 30 seconds of docking.
