Fits Gardenline R800Easy lawn mower; replaces OEM part number 862617 or 862618.
28V lithium-ion cells deliver 5000mAh capacity for sustained blade motor power through full mowing passes.
Battery slides into the mower's vertical slot with keyed connector alignment; locking tab seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested this pack under simulated blade load—BMS held steady through thick-grass engagement without nuisance cutoff.
If the mower cuts out mid-row then restarts after a few minutes, let the pack cool for five minutes before resuming; thermal protection is active under sustained heavy blade load.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gardenline R800Easy — 28V Li-ion Replacement Battery (862617)

This is a 28V Li-ion battery rated at 5000mAh (140Wh), built to replace the original pack on the Gardenline R800Easy cordless lawn mower. It slots into the same bay and connects to the same charge port as the factory battery. Voltage and capacity match OEM part numbers 862617 and 862618.

  • R800Easy platform fit: The R800Easy runs a 28V blade motor that draws a sharp inrush current every time the blade engages. This battery's BMS is rated to handle that load without nuisance tripping on a healthy, warm pack.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated blade-start cycles, including simulated heavy-grass drag on the motor. The BMS held cutoff thresholds consistent with OEM behaviour across the test sequence.
  • Seasonal storage tip: Before the first cut of spring, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before the mower takes a single pass.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load

The R800Easy blade motor pulls significantly more current through dense or wet grass than it does on a dry, short lawn. If the BMS reads that current spike as an over-current fault, it shuts the pack down instantly to protect the cells. This is more likely when the battery is warm from a previous run and the cells are already under some thermal load. Let the pack rest for five minutes before restarting — the BMS will reset and the mower will fire normally.

Charger shows fault light after mower sat unused all winter

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. After several months in a cold garage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the charger refuses to begin a charge cycle. Bring the battery to room temperature and leave it on the charger for 20–30 minutes. Many chargers will trickle charge at low voltage until the pack recovers to the acceptance window, then switch to normal charge. If the fault light stays on past 30 minutes, check that the pack resting voltage is at least 20V before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My R800Easy cuts out halfway across the lawn and then starts again after a short wait — what's happening?

The pack's thermal protection is triggering. The blade motor generates sustained current draw during a full mowing run, and if the cells heat past the BMS thermal threshold, it cuts power to prevent cell damage. This is not a fault — it is the protection circuit working as intended. Allow a five-minute cooldown with the battery removed from the mower, then resume.

The charger accepted the battery fine last autumn but now it just blinks a fault code and won't charge — is the pack dead?

Most likely the pack discharged below the charger's acceptance voltage over winter storage. Leave the battery at room temperature for a few hours, then place it back on the charger. Many chargers will attempt a slow recovery charge once the pack is above 10°C and will transition to a full charge cycle once cell voltage climbs above roughly 20V. If the charger still faults after 30 minutes at room temperature, measure resting voltage across the terminals — anything above 20V means the charger or its connection is the issue, not the cells.

The mower runs noticeably weaker on the first cold morning of spring — is the battery already failing?

No — this is normal Li-ion behaviour below 10°C. Cold cells have higher internal resistance, which causes voltage to sag under the blade motor's load, producing less torque and perceived power. Bring the battery indoors the night before and let it reach room temperature before that first spring cut. Once the cells are above 15°C, you will see full output on the same lawn.
