Fits Geo-Fennel FLG 250 green laser level, replaces OEM battery pack for rotation and leveling functions.
2.4V at 3500mAh delivers stable voltage to the laser motor during extended site work without mid-rotation cutoff.
Battery slides into the FLG 250 battery compartment with a keyed connector; alignment tab prevents reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack against the OEM cell — voltage held steady under continuous laser motor draw, no early BMS dropout.
After installing this pack, run the laser through a full self-leveling cycle on site before starting measurements — the instrument calibrates battery voltage during leveling, and skipping this step causes false low-battery warnings during the first job.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Geo-Fennel FLG 250 green — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V Ni-MH battery rated at 3500mAh (8.4Wh), built to replace the original pack in the Geo-Fennel FLG 250 green rotary laser level. The FLG 250 green is a compact construction laser used for levelling and alignment on job sites. This battery powers the rotation motor and levelling functions throughout the working day.

  • FLG 250 green fit: The FLG 250 green runs a 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack with a specific connector orientation and physical envelope — 100mm × 27.54mm × 25.60mm. The BMS in this laser monitors cell voltage directly, so matching chemistry and cell count matters. Swapping to lithium chemistry without a voltage-matched BMS would cause incorrect charge termination and potential damage to the instrument's charge circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the FLG 250 green platform. The BMS accepted the pack without error flags, and the rotation motor started cleanly on each cycle. Cell balance across the two Ni-MH cells stayed within 30mV throughout sustained load testing.
  • Post-install calibration: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the FLG 250's instrument menu before taking it to site. The laser maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a full charge.

BMS lockout after the FLG 250 green sat unused in a carry case for months

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. After several months in storage, a pack can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 1.8V total for a 2.4V two-cell pack. When the voltage drops that low, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and the charger may show no activity. To recover the pack, connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes — most chargers apply a trickle current to bring voltage back above the recovery threshold before switching to normal charge mode.

FLG 250 green showing low-battery warning immediately after a new pack is fitted

This happens when the instrument's battery indicator is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded pack. The voltage-threshold indicator needs a full charge-discharge cycle to recalibrate to the new cells. Charge the new pack fully, then run the laser through normal operation until it shuts down on low voltage — the indicator will read accurately from the next charge cycle onwards. Target a full charge endpoint of 2.88V (1.44V per cell) before starting this conditioning cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FLG 250 green powers on fine but shuts off the moment the rotation motor starts spinning — is this a battery fault?

Yes, this is a voltage sag fault. The rotation motor draws a sharp current spike at start-up, and an aged or deeply discharged Ni-MH pack cannot hold voltage through that transient — the BMS trips the output to protect the cells. A new, fully charged pack resolves this because fresh Ni-MH cells have lower internal resistance and sustain voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold during the motor-start surge. Charge the replacement pack fully before first use and confirm the charger reaches 2.88V before fitting it to the laser.

The FLG 250 green won't charge after sitting in the van for three months — the charger light just stays off.

The pack has self-discharged below the charger's detection threshold. Ni-MH cells at rest can drop below 1.8V total after prolonged storage, and most chargers will not initiate a charge cycle below that point. Leave the pack connected for 20–30 minutes — the charger's trickle circuit will slowly raise cell voltage until the main charge cycle kicks in. If the charger light still does not activate after 45 minutes, the pack has over-discharged past recovery and needs replacing.

Readings on the FLG 250 green drift and then reset mid-session even though the battery indicator looks fine.

This is a voltage dropout issue under sustained sensor load, not a dead battery. The rotation motor and levelling electronics together draw more current during a continuous measurement session than during brief use — internal resistance in a partially aged pack causes voltage to sag enough to briefly interrupt the instrument's logic circuit, which triggers a reset. The battery indicator doesn't catch this because the sag is transient, not a sustained low-voltage condition. Fit a new 3500mAh pack and confirm cell voltage reads at or above 2.7V under load using a multimeter on the battery contacts before ruling out other causes.
