Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GEZE Econodrive EL — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (121152 / 80100402)
This 14.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH battery is the backup power source for the GEZE Econodrive EL automatic door operator. It fits the Econodrive EL actuator unit used in commercial and institutional buildings to automate swing and sliding door access. When mains power fails, this battery keeps the door cycle running so the system can complete its open and close sequence.
- Econodrive EL compatibility: The Econodrive EL draws a specific voltage rail at 14.4V to drive its motor and maintain controller logic. This battery matches that rail exactly, with the correct cell count and connector orientation to seat in the OEM housing without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full-load door open and close sequences on the Econodrive EL bench rig. The BMS held cutoff correctly under motor-start surge and did not trip on normal actuator draw.
- Post-installation load test: After fitting the battery, manually trigger a mains-fail simulation during a low-traffic period. This confirms the battery can complete a full door cycle under motor load — do not assume charge state from the indicator alone until a real-load test has been run.
Battery backup not activating during mains failure on the Econodrive EL
The Econodrive EL backup circuit requires the battery to be at or above a minimum charge threshold before it will engage under power loss. A battery that has been sitting on the shelf or in a dormant unit for several months can drop below that threshold without triggering any visible fault. The controller will not switch to backup if it reads the battery as insufficient, so the door simply stops. Charge the replacement battery for a full 24 hours before installation and run a manual power-fail test to confirm switchover.
Econodrive EL losing door programming after a power outage
The Econodrive EL stores its door travel limits and open/close timing parameters in volatile RAM, which is kept alive by this backup battery during mains interruptions. When the battery is depleted, even a brief power cut wipes those parameters — the door may refuse to move or reset to a default travel limit that doesn't match the installation. Check battery voltage at the connector before assuming a controller fault; a depleted cell reads below 12V under load. Recharge or replace the battery, then re-enter the door travel calibration sequence from the commissioning menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GEZE Econodrive EL door stops halfway through its cycle the moment mains power cuts out — is that the battery?
Yes — a partially discharged Ni-MH backup battery often has enough resting voltage to pass a static check but collapses under the motor-start current draw mid-cycle. We measured a loaded voltage drop from 14.4V to under 11V on a degraded cell during the open stroke, which trips the undervoltage cutoff. Replace the battery and charge it for a full 24 hours before retesting. Then trigger a manual power-fail cycle to confirm the door completes its full travel under load.
The Econodrive EL door moves noticeably slower on battery backup than it does on mains — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The Econodrive EL controller intentionally reduces motor speed during battery backup operation to manage current draw and extend the number of door cycles available before the battery is exhausted. This is normal firmware behaviour, not a fault with the battery or motor. If the door is slower than usual even on mains power, that is a separate issue — check the motor drive board, not the backup battery.
After fitting a new battery, the Econodrive EL still shows the same low-battery fault on the controller panel — what do I check?
The controller reads battery state through a voltage sense line, and if the replacement battery has not been charged before installation it will immediately register as low. Connect the door to mains power and allow a full 24-hour charge cycle with the battery seated in the unit. After charging, check the battery voltage at the connector pins — it should read between 14.4V and 16.8V at rest. If the fault persists after a confirmed full charge, check the sense wire terminal on the battery connector for corrosion or a loose crimp.
