Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Google Pixel 5A / Pixel 5A 5G — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (G27FU)
This is a 3.87V, 4600mAh (17.8Wh) lithium-polymer cell built to fit the Google Pixel 5A and Pixel 5A 5G. It replaces OEM part G27FU directly, restoring power capacity when the original cell has degraded past usable health. The physical dimensions are 108.00 × 43.20 × 5.35mm — matching the original tray footprint.
- Pixel 5A and Pixel 5A 5G fit: Both models use the same battery tray, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The G27FU part number covers both variants — the 5G radio is on a separate board and does not affect battery compatibility.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Pixel 5A unit and cycled it through charge and discharge under screen-on load. The BMS accepted charging current without fault flags, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge through the full cycle without dropping out.
- First-cycle fuel gauge calibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Pixel 5A after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. Under peak load — modem handoff, camera processing, or screen at full brightness — the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold even while the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so its percentage estimate no longer matches actual cell voltage under load. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% lets the coulomb counter recalibrate and eliminate false shutdowns.
USB-PD fast charging not activating after battery replacement
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the Pixel 5A's charge IC may negotiate only trickle or standard 5V charging rather than the full USB-PD profile. This happens because the BMS on the new cell starts in a conservative state until it has completed one full cycle and confirmed cell impedance is within range. Plug into a USB-PD charger and let the first cycle complete fully without interruption. Fast charging typically activates automatically from the second cycle onward once the BMS has logged a valid baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Pixel 5A show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new G27FU cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the Pixel 5A uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. When you install a new cell, that calibration no longer matches and the percentage readout drifts — especially in the 40–80% range. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle the fuel gauge remaps itself against the new cell and the percentage reading stabilises.
The Pixel 5A won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage — is the cell dead?
If the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charge current to protect the cell from damage. The phone will not respond to a standard charger or the power button in this state. Connect to a USB-C charger and leave it completely undisturbed for 20–30 minutes — the charge IC delivers a low trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage recovers past that floor the BMS releases, and the phone will boot or show the charging screen.
The back of my Pixel 5A feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?
A new lithium-polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled. The charge IC compensates by pushing current into a higher-resistance load, which generates more heat at the cell surface during the first two or three charges. This is normal and the warmth should reduce noticeably after the cell has completed two full cycles and impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, stop charging and check that the connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and adds heat at the joint.
