Fits GP0735, GP0747, GP0748, 5M702BMX, GP0827, GP0845, GPH170-R05, GP1050, GPHP70-R05 cordless phone handsets.
Voltage is 2.4V; 600mAh capacity maintains talk and standby time across DECT phone cycles.
Connector is a two-pin inline plug; insert straight into handset battery slot until it seats flush.
We bench-tested this pack on a DECT base acceptance circuit; BMS voltage held above 2.3V at idle and under RF transmit load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP GP0735 / GP0747 / GP0748 — 2.4V Ni-MH 600mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for GP cordless phone handsets. It cross-references OEM part numbers GP0735, GP0747, GP0748, 5M702BMX, GP0827, GP0845, GPH170-R05, GP1050, and GPHP70-R05. If your handset won't hold a charge through a normal day of calls, this pack replaces the original cell directly.

  • Multi-OEM cross-reference: These part numbers cover GP handsets that share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH architecture, connector pinout, and BMS charge acceptance profile — which is why one pack covers all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless phone base station. The BMS accepted charge normally from cycle one, and voltage held steady at 2.4V under simulated RF transmit load without sagging below the handset's low-battery cutoff threshold.
  • First-charge conditioning for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated 600mAh capacity — short first charges leave the cells partially formed and talk time suffers for weeks.

Why range drops after a NiMH battery swap in a cordless handset

DECT handsets pull a burst of current every time the RF module transmits. A fresh NiMH pack that hasn't completed its first full conditioning cycle has higher internal resistance than a fully formed cell. That resistance causes voltage to sag during each transmit burst, which the handset interprets as low battery and reduces transmit power — cutting range. Running three to five full charge and discharge cycles brings internal resistance down to spec and restores normal transmit power levels.

Base station not registering a charge on a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries stored in a warehouse self-discharge over time and can arrive below the voltage threshold the base station uses to confirm a valid pack is seated. If the charge indicator doesn't light or shows an error, the base may be rejecting the pack as too flat to charge safely. Place the handset firmly in the cradle and wait up to 30 minutes — some bases trickle at a very low rate to bring a deeply discharged NiMH cell back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the light still doesn't activate after 30 minutes, reseat the handset and confirm the battery contacts are clean and making full contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone talk time is still short after fitting the new battery — is the pack faulty?

Almost certainly not. NiMH cordless phone batteries need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. After installing, run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat that cycle at least three times. Talk time should increase noticeably with each cycle.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix that?

Some DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that resets when power is fully removed during a battery swap. Re-registering the handset takes under two minutes: locate the "Register" or "Paging" button on the base station, press and hold it until the base signals search mode, then follow the handset's pairing menu. Check the original handset manual for the exact key sequence specific to your model.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is nearly always a seating problem, not a battery fault. The handset contacts need to press firmly against the base charging pins to maintain a trickle charge during standby. Lift the handset out, inspect both the handset contacts and base pins for corrosion or debris, wipe them with a dry cloth, and reseat the handset until you hear or feel it click into position. Confirm the charge indicator light activates — the handset is only charging when that light is on.
