Fits Harting & Helling Janosch MBF5050, MBF5151, MBF4080 parent units; replaces OEM battery pack CS-PHC487MB.
4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH pack restores full talk-back range and night-vision IR LED brightness on the parent monitor unit.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment on the back of the unit with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench tested this cell on a MBF5050 unit; the BMS accepted charge within normal parameters with no cutoff anomalies.
After battery installation, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit — the Janosch system loses wireless sync after a complete power interruption.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Harting & Helling Janosch MBF5050 Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Harting & Helling Janosch parent unit. It fits the MBF5050, MBF5151, MBF4080, and MBF5050 series babyphone systems. When the original cell degrades and stops holding charge, this is the direct swap that restores full wireless operation to the portable parent unit.

  • MBF5050 / MBF5151 / MBF4080 platform: These models share the same 4.8V four-cell Ni-MH pack format, connector pinout, and charging circuit. Swapping between models in this series works because the BMS and charge termination logic targets the same voltage ceiling across all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the parent unit's onboard charge circuit. The BMS accepted the pack without fault flags, delta-V cutoff triggered at the correct point, and the unit held a stable 4.8V rail throughout audio transmission.
  • Post-swap wireless link: After fitting this battery, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit before assuming anything is broken. Baby monitors lose their stored wireless channel when the parent unit drops to zero voltage — this is a normal reset, not a fault with the battery.

Why the Janosch parent unit drops range after a battery swap

The 2.4GHz radio transmitter in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive. At low charge states, the radio steps down its output power to protect the circuit, which cuts usable range noticeably. A freshly fitted Ni-MH cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle will sit below peak voltage and deliver reduced range until fully charged. Run a complete charge before judging whether the battery is at fault. Range restores once the pack reaches full 4.8V.

Parent unit battery draining completely overnight

Night-time monitoring with the screen active is a sustained draw that a 700mAh Ni-MH cell was not sized to sustain indefinitely. The screen backlight is the single largest current consumer on the parent unit. Enable the screen timeout function in the monitor's display settings — most Janosch units support a 30-second auto-off. With the screen off and audio-only active, current draw drops significantly and the pack lasts through a full overnight session.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit shows full bars after the battery swap but won't connect to the camera unit — what's wrong?

This is a wireless re-pair issue, not a battery fault. When the parent unit loses power completely — which happens when the old battery dies — it clears the stored camera link. The battery being full has no effect on that lost pairing. Hold the pair button on both the parent and camera unit simultaneously until the indicator light confirms a new link.

The night vision on the camera stopped working right after I replaced the battery — is that related?

The IR LEDs on Janosch camera units draw power from the camera side, not the parent battery, so the swap itself didn't cause this. What likely happened is that the parent unit's low-voltage state before the swap corrupted the night vision setting in the menu. Check the display settings menu on the parent unit and re-enable IR/night vision mode manually — it's a toggle that resets on some units after a full power loss.

The parent unit charges fine but the battery goes flat much faster than the original did — what's causing that?

Ni-MH cells are prone to shallow-cycle degradation — if the original battery was repeatedly charged from 50% rather than run down properly, the pack develops a reduced effective capacity over time. The replacement cell starts fresh, but it needs two or three full discharge-and-recharge cycles to reach its rated 700mAh capacity. Run it until the low-battery warning triggers, then charge fully — repeat this three times before assessing real-world life.
