Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HiKOKI UB18DJL Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BSL36B18)
This is an 18V 3000mAh (54Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the HiKOKI UB18DJL cordless impact driver and compatible 18V HiKOKI tools including the WF18DSL series. It uses OEM part numbers BSL36B18 and BSL36A18. Slot it into any compatible 18V HiKOKI slide-mount platform and the BMS handshakes immediately with the tool's power management circuit.
- UB18DJL and WF18DSL platform fit: These models share the same 18V slide-rail connector and BMS communication protocol. The battery's cell configuration and protection board match the voltage rail and current draw profile that both tools expect at trigger pull.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on an 18V HiKOKI platform. The BMS tracked cell balance across all five cells and held overcurrent protection thresholds consistent with HiKOKI's OEM specification under repeated inrush load events.
- First-use break-in on impact drivers: On first use, run the tool at half torque for two cycles before applying maximum fastening load. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current spike and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you drive structural fixings at full power.
BMS cutoff on UB18DJL motor-start inrush surge
Impact drivers pull a sharp current spike the instant the motor fires — on the UB18DJL, that inrush can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a cold or freshly installed pack. The protection circuit reads that spike as a fault and cuts output before the motor reaches working speed. A new battery stored at partial charge is especially vulnerable because cell impedance is higher at rest. Warm the pack to room temperature and complete one full charge before heavy fastening work to bring cell impedance down to normal operating range.
Tool bogs under sustained load but recovers when you release the trigger
If the UB18DJL loses torque mid-drive but snaps back when you lift off the trigger, the cause is voltage sag, not cell failure. High rail contact resistance at the battery terminals drops the delivered voltage under load, pulling it below the tool's minimum operating threshold. Check the slide-rail contacts on both the battery and the tool for corrosion or debris — clean with a dry brush or contact eraser. Rail voltage under load should sit above 16.2V; below that, the tool's control board begins throttling output.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HiKOKI charger blinks red on this new pack straight out of the box — what's wrong?
A new pack stored for any length of time can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage, which on most HiKOKI 18V chargers sits around 12–13V per pack. The charger reads the low cell voltage as a fault and refuses to begin a normal charge cycle. Try holding the pack at room temperature for 30 minutes, then connect it again — some HiKOKI chargers will attempt a recovery trickle charge once cell temperature stabilises. If the charger still blinks red after a second attempt, check that all five rail contacts are seating flush with no debris bridging the terminals.
The UB18DJL cuts out instantly when I pull the trigger hard — is the battery tripping?
That's the BMS overcurrent protection firing on the motor-start inrush spike, not a dead cell. Impact drivers pull a sharp current surge the moment the motor engages, and a cold or freshly charged pack has higher cell impedance, which amplifies the voltage drop the BMS sees. Run one light-load cycle first — drive a few short screws at reduced speed — before going straight to full-torque structural fixings. After that conditioning cycle, the BMS sets its overcurrent threshold against a real load profile and the cutout stops.
The pack works fine in summer but the tool bogs badly on cold mornings — is it the battery?
Yes — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which means the cells can't deliver current fast enough to keep rail voltage stable under the UB18DJL's motor load. The tool's control board throttles output when voltage sags below its minimum threshold, and on a cold pack that threshold is hit almost immediately under any real fastening load. Keep the pack inside at room temperature before heading to site — even 20 minutes in a warm environment brings internal resistance back to normal operating range. Do not attempt to warm it with direct heat; ambient temperature is sufficient.
