Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi E-100D / E-100DC — 7.2V Ni-MH CMOS Backup Battery
This is a 7.2V, 20mAh Ni-MH backup cell for the Hitachi E-100D and E-100DC. It powers the real-time clock and SRAM when mains power is removed. Without a functional backup cell, the device loses system settings and resets the clock every time it is unplugged.
- E-100D and E-100DC compatibility: Both models share the same RTC and SRAM retention circuit, requiring the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell geometry — 41.32 × 12.42 × 7.52 mm. A voltage or size mismatch prevents the backup circuit from holding the retention threshold the CMOS circuit expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated mains disconnection events and confirmed the BMS maintained SRAM retention and clock continuity across each power interruption without data loss.
- Post-installation clock correction: After swapping the backup cell, enter the device's settings and manually set the correct date and time, then save before exiting. The CMOS circuit powers the RTC, and any gap in backup power resets the clock to a factory default that the device cannot self-correct.
Settings lost every time mains power is removed on the E-100D
The E-100D stores user settings and clock data in SRAM backed exclusively by this Ni-MH cell. When the cell drops below the minimum retention voltage, the SRAM loses power the moment mains is cut. No backup cell voltage means no data retention — it is not a firmware issue. Replacing the cell and re-entering settings resolves this completely.
Clock resetting to a default date on every power cycle
If the Hitachi E-100D clock reverts to a fixed default date each time it is powered on, the backup cell is below the 2.8V minimum retention threshold needed to sustain the RTC circuit. The RTC loses its reference the instant mains drops, so it restarts from a hardcoded default on every boot. Installing a fresh cell and setting the correct time manually is the only fix. Confirm the new cell reads above 2.8V before closing the unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Hitachi E-100D keeps losing its clock every time I unplug it — will a new backup cell fix this?
Yes. The RTC circuit on the E-100D runs entirely off this Ni-MH backup cell when mains power is absent. Once the cell drops below 2.8V retention voltage, the clock resets to a factory default on every power cycle. Replace the cell, then manually enter the correct date and time in the device settings and save before exiting.
I replaced the backup cell in my E-100D but it's showing a checksum or settings error on startup — what went wrong?
A checksum error after a cell swap usually means the SRAM lost power momentarily during the swap itself — even a brief gap is enough to corrupt stored settings. The cell is fine. Re-enter all device settings from scratch, save, then cycle mains power once to confirm the settings persist. If the error clears and settings hold after that cycle, the installation is good.
The contacts in the E-100D battery bay look corroded from the old cell — will the new cell still make a proper connection?
Corroded or flattened contact springs are a common cause of intermittent backup failure even with a fresh cell installed. Clean the contacts with a dry cotton swab or fine-grit foam eraser before fitting the new cell. Press the cell firmly into the bay and confirm it seats flat with no rocking. After fitting, check that the device retains the clock through a full mains disconnection to verify contact is solid.
