Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell Voice A700x / Voice A700 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 5000mAh (18.5Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Honeywell Voice A700x and Voice A700 mobile computers. These handheld units are used in warehouse picking, inventory management, and retail scanning. Swap the old pack out when charge capacity has dropped and the scanner can no longer complete a full shift.
- Voice A700 platform fit: The A700 and A700x share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the same pack covers both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Voice A700x unit. The BMS held a stable cutoff at low cell voltage and accepted a full charge from the cradle without throwing a fault code.
- First-install cradle cycle: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge before the first pick shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first burst of rapid scanning.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging fault on a freshly installed pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty battery. Dust, oxidation, or a slightly off-centre seating position raises resistance at the dock contacts enough to trigger the cradle's fault detection. Remove the scanner, wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the unit firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the pack is charging correctly.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a rapid barcode scan sequence, the imager and the wireless radio draw current simultaneously. If cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum threshold — typically around 3.2V under combined load — the radio drops its connection before the BMS trips the pack entirely. This appears as a wireless dropout rather than a power-off event, which makes it easy to misread as a network issue. Keeping the battery above 20% state of charge during peak picking periods eliminates most of these mid-shift dropouts.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Voice A700x won't read barcodes after I put in the new battery — is the scanner broken?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been cradle-charged yet may sit just below that threshold. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before use. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — the imager recovered immediately once cell voltage reached 3.7V under load.
The scanner runs warm after a few hours of continuous use on a full charge — is that normal?
Sustained scanning combined with active wireless polling generates consistent current draw inside a compact housing with limited airflow — some warmth is expected. The cell becomes a problem only if the housing is too hot to hold comfortably, which signals the BMS is working harder than normal. Check that the scanner's ventilation slots aren't blocked by a protective case or debris. If the unit is still excessively warm after clearing any obstruction, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact.
The battery charged overnight in the cradle but the shift endurance is noticeably shorter than the old pack at its best — what's different?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both affect how quickly the pack depletes, and these settings may have drifted or been reconfigured after the battery swap. Check the device's wireless polling interval in the Voice software settings — a shorter polling cycle increases background radio draw significantly. Also confirm the cradle completed a full charge cycle rather than stopping early due to a contact fault; a partial charge at installation is the most common cause of unexpectedly short first-shift endurance.
