Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GH02XL)
This 7.7V, 5900mAh (45.43Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE and Chromebook 11 MK G9 EE. It also fits the Chromebook 14 G6 and a wide range of other HP education-series models sharing the same battery connector and BMS profile. OEM part numbers covered include GH02XL, HSTNN-DB9M, L75253-1C1, and L75253-271, among others.
- Education-series compatibility: The 11 G8 EE, 11 MK G9 EE, and 14 G6 share a 7.7V two-cell pack configuration with a common SMBus connector and BMS handshake. The replacement cell uses the same EEPROM data structure, so ChromeOS reads the pack without throwing an unknown-device error on first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on an 11 G8 EE chassis through charge and discharge cycles. The BMS engaged protection at the correct low-voltage cutoff and the fuel gauge IC synced within two full cycles. No thermal events or charge-stop anomalies were recorded.
- Post-install calibration tip: After fitting this cell, let the Chromebook run down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after most cell swaps on this platform.
Why the Chromebook 11 G8 EE shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The fuel gauge IC in this platform calibrates against the original cell's charge curve. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity slope, so the IC miscalculates the remaining charge. Under full CPU and display load, the pack voltage drops faster than the IC predicts, and the laptop shuts off before the gauge reaches zero. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration gap. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles without interruption, and the IC re-maps its curve against the new cell. Most users see accurate shutdowns after the second full cycle.
ChromeOS reporting battery health as "Poor" or Wh rating as incorrect after install
ChromeOS reads battery health and rated Wh from EEPROM data stored on the battery's fuel gauge chip. When the old cell's EEPROM data does not match the new cell's actual chemistry, the OS displays a mismatch — often showing a lower Wh figure or a poor health flag. This is an EEPROM reporting difference, not a physical defect. Navigate to chrome://system in the browser, locate the battery section, and confirm voltage is reading above 7.5V at rest. After one full learn cycle, the reported values align to the replacement cell's actual rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE shows 0% or "Unknown Battery" right after I put in the new battery — is it broken?
It is not broken. The fuel gauge IC on this platform is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and has not yet mapped the new one. Boot the Chromebook on AC power and let ChromeOS initialise fully. Then run one complete discharge to hibernate cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. The fuel gauge IC syncs to the new cell during that first full cycle, and the 0% or unknown status clears.
The new battery charged to 80% and stopped — it has been plugged in for hours and will not go higher.
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. HP education Chromebooks ship with Battery Care Mode enabled in some firmware versions, which caps charging at 80% to reduce cycle wear in managed school deployments. Open the Chromebook's settings, go to Device > Power, and check whether "Adaptive charging" or a charge limit is active. Disabling that setting allows the battery to charge fully to 100%.
ChromeOS is showing the wrong Wh rating for the new battery — it says something lower than 45.43Wh.
The Wh figure ChromeOS displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the fuel gauge chip, which may store the rated value from the previous cell's chemistry profile rather than the replacement cell's actual specification. The cell is still delivering its full 45.43Wh capacity — the displayed figure is a reporting lag. After two full discharge-and-charge cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalculates against the new cell and updates the reported Wh to match. Confirm the reading has corrected by checking chrome://system after the second full cycle.
