Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Chromebook 11 G5 / 11 G5 EE — 11.1V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (918669-855)
This is an 11.1V, 4000mAh (44.4Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Chromebook 11 G5 and 11 G5 EE. It replaces OEM part numbers 918669-855, SQU-1603, and 918340-2C1. Fits both the standard and EE education variants of this Chromebook — same cell format, same BMS handshake.
- G5 and G5 EE compatibility: Both models run the same 11.1V battery rail and use an identical connector and BMS communication protocol. HP made no hardware revision to the battery bay between the standard and EE variants, so one cell covers both boards.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, discharge, and BMS handshake verification on G5 hardware. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes and reported capacity correctly after one full calibration cycle.
- Post-install calibration on the G5: After fitting this battery, run the Chromebook down to automatic hibernate cutoff — do not force shut it down mid-discharge. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The HP Chromebook 11 G5 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads no matching cycle history and flags health as poor or unknown — this is not a fault with the replacement. The fuel gauge IC also loses its calibration reference and needs new data points. Running two to three full discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles gives the BIOS enough data to recalculate health accurately. After that, the health warning clears on its own.
Chromebook 11 G5 shutting down at 20–30% battery shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge over-reports remaining charge, and the laptop hits the real low-voltage cutoff before the display hits 0%. It is not a fault with the cell itself. Force a full discharge to hibernate cutoff — do not plug in at 20% — then charge to 100% without interruption. After two of these full cycles, the gauge recalibrates and the cutoff aligns correctly with what the screen shows.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Chromebook 11 G5 shows 0% and won't boot even with the new battery installed — what's wrong?
The BMS on the new cell may have entered a deep-discharge protection state during shipping or storage. Connect the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs a trickle input to exit lockout mode. If the charging LED doesn't activate within 5 minutes of plugging in, disconnect, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect. Once the BMS exits lockout, the cell will take a charge normally and the board will boot.
System info shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery — is the cell faulty?
No. The Wh figure shown in Chrome OS system info is pulled from EEPROM data embedded in the original OEM cell, not measured from the new one. The replacement cell's actual chemistry and capacity are correct at 44.4Wh — the mismatch is a display artefact from the old EEPROM reference. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles; the BIOS will update its stored data and the displayed Wh figure will align with the actual cell.
New battery charges to 80% then stops — Chromebook won't charge past that point.
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. HP's firmware on some G5 units activates an 80% charge cap when battery health data is flagged as unknown — which it will be immediately after a cell swap. Complete two full calibration cycles: discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. Once the BIOS has enough cycle data to confirm the new cell is healthy, the charge limit releases and the battery charges to 100%.
