Fits HP iPAQ 300, 310, 312, 314 series handhelds; replaces HSTNH-S12B, HSTNH-F15C, 430128-002, HSTNH-L05-xx.
3.7V at 1700mAh lithium-ion supplies full operating power to the processor, display, and wireless radio throughout the workday.
Flat connector slides into the battery slot on the device underside; tab locks in place; no polarity risk with keyed design.
We bench-tested the cell across five charge cycles; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion and maintained voltage regulation under sustained draw.
Sync all open files and scheduled tasks to your host computer before removing the old battery — the iPAQ holds application state in RAM powered by the main cell, and power loss erases unsaved data.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP iPAQ 300 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNH-S12B)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion battery for the HP iPAQ 300, 310, 312, and 314 handheld PDAs. It replaces OEM part numbers HSTNH-S12B, HSTNH-F15C, 430128-002, and HSTNH-L05-xx. The cell fits directly into the original battery bay with no modification required.

  • iPAQ 300-series compatibility: The 300, 310, 312, and 314 all run the same 3.7V battery bay and share identical connector pinout and BMS handshake requirements. One cell fits the full range without adapter or firmware change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the iPAQ platform and confirmed the BMS accepted charge normally, reported state-of-charge accurately to the OS, and held stable voltage under both idle and active wireless loads.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Perform a full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync to the host computer before removing the battery. The iPAQ 300 series stores open application state and unsaved data in volatile SRAM powered directly by the main cell — cutting power without syncing first will erase that data.

Why the iPAQ 300 loses contacts and calendar data after a battery swap

The iPAQ 300 uses SRAM for working memory, and SRAM requires continuous power to retain data. When the battery is removed, even briefly, the RAM loses its contents entirely. This is not a fault with the new battery — it is how the platform works. Contacts, calendar entries, and installed applications stored only in RAM will be gone when the device reboots. Sync all data to a host PC or use a storage card before swapping the battery.

iPAQ 300 stuck on the boot screen after fitting a new battery

If the replacement cell arrives partially discharged, the iPAQ may not complete its boot sequence — the device needs sufficient voltage to initialise the radio and load the OS from flash. A cell reading below roughly 3.5V at the terminals may stall the boot. Connect the iPAQ to the original charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the charge LED confirms current is flowing, try booting again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPAQ 310 lost all my contacts after I swapped the battery — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The iPAQ 300 series keeps contacts and calendar data in SRAM, which needs continuous battery power to hold its contents. The moment the old cell is removed, that memory clears — it is how the hardware works, not a fault with the replacement. Before your next swap, run a full sync to a host PC via ActiveSync so your data is backed up before the power is cut.

The iPAQ 314 won't turn on after I installed the new battery — it just sits at a blank screen or loops on the boot logo.

This usually means the replacement cell arrived too discharged to power the boot sequence fully. The iPAQ needs enough voltage to initialise its radio module and load the OS — a cell below roughly 3.5V may stall the process before it completes. Connect the device to its charger and let it charge for 30 minutes without attempting to boot it. Once the charge indicator is active, press the power button and the boot sequence should complete normally.

My iPAQ 312 battery drains much faster when I'm using wireless sync compared to just reading documents — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The wireless radio and the backlight together draw significantly more current than the CPU alone, which compresses usable time between charges compared to standby or document use. This gap is normal and appears on original HP cells too. If drain feels excessive even with the radio off, check that background applications are not keeping the processor active — go to Settings > Memory > Running Programs and close anything not in use.
